JOB PURPOSE:
Accountable for directing and leading strategic sourcing performance across Piedmont Healthcare on spend in excess of $1 billion. Responsible for year over year total cost reductions, creation/maintenance of vendor scorecards, strategy, process standardization while maintaining or improving product quality and supplier service levels. Collaborates with system office and executive leadership, stakeholders, clinicians and physicians to build successful commodity sourcing strategies and implementation plans. This position has responsibility for making decisions and managing risk that impact day-to-day operations, with potential for short to mid-term impact on the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Directs the personnel, operational and/or financial activities of functional area.
2. Leads the development and implementation of annual commodity-based sourcing plan that results in achieving annual savings goals. Identifies and prioritizes opportunities via comprehensive spend analysis, expiring contracts, and business planning sessions with stakeholders. Communicates clear Supply Chain goals and manages exceptions as appropriate.
3. Provides strategic and tactical guidance for all sourcing activities of Commodity Managers based on best practices within Piedmont Healthcare, within the healthcare industry and beyond the healthcare industry.
4. Oversees the spend analysis, category analysis, market analysis, category strategy development, supplier selection, product standardization and negotiation processes. Coaches Commodity Managers through significant complexities and barriers. Leads complex supplier negotiations of significant value/importance to the organization. Establishes agreements for supplies, medical devices, services and equipment at the optimal total cost while meeting or exceeding quality and specification requirements.
5. Proactively establish and foster successful, positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, especially operational business owners, service line leadership, vendor account executives, and other system support departments to drive engagement through formal and informal interactions.
6. Establishes a culture of service and creates a work environment for employees through team building, coaching, constructive feedback, work delegation, personal example and goal setting that encourages creativity, open dialogue on work issues, professional growth, and a consistent, high level of performance; encourage and support employee decision-making within his or her scope of responsibilities.
7. Complete performance reviews for employees and provide timely feedback to address performance/quality and training issues as needed. Responsible for hiring, orienting, disciplining and terminating staff.
8. Maintains job descriptions and educates staff on expectations.
9. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Piedmont Corporate Integrity Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of strategic sourcing, best practice supply chain principles and financial analysis business acumen.
2. Exceptional analytical skills with knowledge of financial and accounting concepts. Must be able to analyze complex information and formulate logical and objective conclusions.
3. Excellent negotiation skills with external and internal constituencies and a thorough knowledge of industry best practices to continually enhance and improve contracting.
4. Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
5. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to structure and prioritize work to achieve specific deliverables in an environment characterized by tight deadlines and competing priorities.
6. Ability to manage other departments involvement (e.g. Legal, IT, HR) in strategic sourcing events and insuring that timelines are met.
7. Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
8. Ability to think strategically, follow strategic direction, bring forth any potential issues and formulate viable solutions.
9. Demonstrated results in optimizing teamwork and the potential of all individuals.
10. Proven management skills, including performance, projects and change management. Drives change through data and metrics that positively impact the organization.
11. Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
12. A demonstrated ability to use PC based office productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel) as necessary and PC based financial tools (spreadsheets, data bases, financial planning software and graphics, Microsoft preferred) effectively for analyses and
presentations; general computer skills necessary to work effectively in an office environment.
13. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Piedmont Healthcare.
14. Must be able to travel to the various Piedmont Healthcare sites as needed.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree in business, finance or a clinical discipline required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of experience in Supply Chain, material management/practices or a closely related field, to include; five (5) years strategic sourcing experience and five (5) years of leadership experience in a complex organization. Experience including contract negotiation, commodity management, preparation and evaluation of RFPs, relationship management, asset management and a strong understanding of project management methodologies.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in appropriate business-related discipline preferred. Must possess strong analytical skills including ability to construct and execute multiple complex analyses (TCO, EVC, NPV) simultaneously.
