The Director of Creative Communications reports to the Chief Marketing Officer, and will oversee the creative initiatives of the Husky Athletics Department. This position will own the process, manage timelines and reporting, and take creative projects from inception to completion. This includes managing several creative projects at once, managing resources for deliverables across clients, raising red flags and helping to establish and promote company processes.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Serve as the creative project manager, responsible for interfacing with internal and external clients including coaches and ICA staff, developing timelines for project completion, and providing all parties with status updates throughout the process.

Develop process through which creative projects are requested and tracked. Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for all creative and content development, fielding questions, troubleshooting, clarifying strategic requirements, explaining complex ideas clearly, and managing overall expectations. Mitigate communication breakdowns, resolving and/or escalating issues in a timely fashion. Ensure that project requests are complete so creative team has adequate information to begin development.

Generate and maintain estimates based on project specs and prepare for client sign-off. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential obstacles, and devise contingency plans. Present concepts and completed projects for approval. Maintain records on projects completed with hours committed to each.

STAFF MANAGEMENT

Manage and supervise creative staff with oversight over video, graphic design and social/web departments. Direct creative staff in prioritizing tasks according to potential for revenue growth and brand exposure. Ensure staff is remaining on track to on-time project completion that hits all deadlines. Provide support to staff to assist efficiency in project completion. Support staff in management of their direct reports. Work with department administration to identify additional resources needed to meet project goal requirements.

CREATIVE DIRECTION

Work alongside the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications and the Chief Marketing Officer to develop and implement sales and brand campaigns, including visual identity, program and departmental taglines.

Represent the creative services division where required during department meetings including marketing campaign discussions, ticket sales and partnerships strategy sessions, facility branding and production meetings, and ticket operations creative needs. Direct digital team in establishing social media strategy. Assists with graphic design projects as needed.

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, communications, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Must possess at least 5 years of professional experience working in a department of athletics including at least 2 years working with a creative services unit.

Must possess a customer service mindset, treating project requestors as clients. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines, is self-directed, communicative, and detail-oriented. Effective project management skills with proven ability to work with various groups to reach a common goal. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to cultivate relationships and drive cooperation with diverse stakeholders, including coaches and team operations directors, athletics administrators and creative services staff. Ability to work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing and shifting priorities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
