Equipment Control Manager
MSC USA - Houston
Job summary
Oversees the Equipment Control Department focusing on:
- Analysis and coordination of Equipment Control local tasks and department's structure
- Control and management of local equipment fleet
Key responsibilities & duties
- Oversees equipment inventory control and management at a local level:
- Equipment stock reporting, monitoring, and forecasting for Terminals and depots under area of responsibility
- Monitoring, tracking, and reporting of equipment flows
- Execution of equipment's distribution in accordance with Logistics strategy, demand, and vendors' capacity
- Coordination of on-hire & off-hire (moment when the containers are leased or can be returned to the leasing company according to the contract), sale of containers
- Identification and addressing of situations when the equipment is subleased or released incorrectly (e.g. released to the wrong party)
- Addressing of lost/stolen containers, gensets and chassis
- Liaises with internal and external parties on matters concerning MSC's equipment fleet
- Collaborates with various departments e.g. reviewing strategic invoices with the Finance department; coordinating equipment supply with Intermodal and Commercial departments, etc.
- Communicates with external parties:
- Liaises with release/return locations
- Serves as an escalation point for problems at terminals/depots which involve equipment.
- Takes preventative measures and finds solutions for equipment shortages situations.
- Participates in conflict resolution activities
- Maintains data accuracy for flow of Moves & Events received in internal system.
- Supervises and enables the development of the team members, by training, mentoring, coaching, setting goals and helping them achieve them.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Trains new employees in the company's policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Assigns tasks to team members and ensures that work is accurate, timely, and efficient.
- Creates processes and SOPs to improve department and avoid errors.
- Identifies opportunities to update or improve procedures and workflows.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requiredskills, experience, and education
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role (Import/export, transportation, logistics etc.)
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience managing a high performing team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with emphasis in Excel, PowerBI and other reporting tools
- Experience analyzing large amounts of data and trends
- Ability to stay updated on market changes & industry news: expert
