About The Opportunity
As part of the ORBIS Reusable Packaging Management (RPM) division, the Industrial Engineer will identify and lead engineering and continuous improvement (CI) projects for multiple Service Centers across the United States. Plan, project manage, and assist with the implementation of layout of equipment, office, and production facilities. Conduct studies in operations to maximize automation, overall workflow and spatial utilization. Ensure facility efficiency and workplace safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify, develop, and implement new technologies, automations, methods, and processes that improve ORBIS RPM operations.
  • Work with Operations to identify and eliminate problems and standardize processes to reduce waste via implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collect data, perform analysis, (utilizing motion & time studies, plant layouts, process maps, Lean & Six Sigma tools, etc.) and provide recommendations to solve process issues.
  • Complete project cost justifications and submit documentation for Management approval.
  • Project Manage key tactical & strategic projects.
  • Facilitate cross-functional working groups (Kaizen or other).
  • Create and update Service Center layouts in AutoCAD.
  • Support and complete project implementation tasks to meet and sustain improvement goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Performance Measures and Outcomes
  • Monthly reporting of CI initiatives.
  • On time delivery
  • Achieve CI savings target through project identification, execution, and sustainment.
  • Successful execution of key strategic projects as Project Manager.


Education/Certification

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field
  • Engineering disciplines preferred: manufacturing or industrial engineering

Preferred:
  • Lean Training and/or certification
  • Project Management certification

*Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Experience Required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience


Travel Requirements
  • This role requires a local presence, so applicants must live within a 2-hour driving distance of Louisville, Kentucky.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally to support the business, including overnight stays and extended work hours during work meetings, travel may include weekends.
  • Ability to obtain a passport.
  • Valid driver's license required/Motor Vehicle Report Required


Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Project & Visio.
  • Ability to apply technical, scientific, and mathematical knowledge to design and implement processes that safely realize a desired objective.
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and techniques for identifying and eliminating waste.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, paired with experience creating and modifying 2D AutoCAD drawings.
  • Knowledge of programming and troubleshooting of control systems and automation systems.
  • Ability to work independently and project manage multiple tasks within broadly defined policies and practices to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and project management skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles, from front line staff to Executive Management.
  • Availability outside of normal business hours.
