Description:
Under the general supervision of the Director, Facility Services, the Manager, assists with planning, organizing, leading and co-ordinating the daily operations of Facilities Services, including Maintenance, Security, Groundskeeping, Laundry, and Housekeeping per legislative and regulatory requirements. Analyzes and evaluates services rendered and makes recommendations to improve the quality of overall building services.
You will be expected to represent Shepherd Village in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining amicable relationships with peers, subordinates, Residents & families in keeping with the Shepherd Village Mission, Vision & Values.
Note: This position is primarily responsible for managing the Maintenance/Building systems operations. The other is primarily responsible for Housekeeping, Laundry, Groundskeeping and Security; both are responsible for covering each other's absence.

Our ideal candidates possesses the following qualifications & skills
- Trade or BES Certification, or equivalent combination of education and recent experience in building operations/health care environment.
- Minimum five (5) years of Long-Term Care/retirement experience preferred.
- Previous experience and working knowledge of laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, and security services and equipment, and/or equivalent certificates. Specialized knowledge of maintenance and building systems is required.
- Previous planning and supervisory experience are required.
- CPO (Certified Pool Operators Certificate), or equivalent knowledge.
- Ability to effectively manage a unionized workforce.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Residential Tenancy Act, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Retirement Homes Act, and Ontario Fire Code.
- Knowledge of computerized facilities management systems (preferred), and intermediate-level Microsoft Word (required).
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- The ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
