Primary Purpose:
The Director of College Access is responsible for leading all post-secondary transitions including college admissions, financial aid, and college transitions-related initiatives across the network to ensure that every Uplift scholar has the opportunity to successfully matriculate into their best fit college and/or post-secondary pathway.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Lead Uplift's network approach to college admissions, financial aid, and transition initiatives, including relevant programs and events
  • Develop and implement a strategic approach to guiding scholars in the matriculation to their best-fit post-secondary pathway
  • Act as lead liaison between college admissions officers and Uplift high school campuses and facilitate campus visits and admissions-related requests between campus RTCC teams and college admissions counselors when needed
  • Work in partnership with special events and family engagement teams to oversee large-scale projects and events in support of college and career goals
  • Coach and support high school college counselors and direct their work streams as related to various post-secondary pathways including college admissions, financial aid, matriculation, and transition
  • Support district-wide College, Career, Military Readiness (CCMR) initiatives, ensuring that college counselors are informed on the impact of CCMR on high school graduation and college admissions, matriculation, and persistence
  • Establish college partnerships that will increase the likelihood of Uplift's scholars being admitted to, persisting, and graduating from their best fit schools. Work with partner, or potential partner, colleges to establish stronger admissions pipelines, tailored resources, and support systems for Uplift scholars to help them increase their likelihood of success in college
  • Collaborate with the Data and Information Management Team to gather and analyze college access-related data and to create and refine tools

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B.A./ B.S.) from four-year college or university required. Master's Degree is desirable but not required.
  • Experience Requirements: Previous 9th - 12th grade educational experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated successful work with teens and parents strongly preferred. Previous management experience strongly preferred.

  • Proven success leading teams toward desired outcomes
  • Ability to work well with students and their families and colleagues
  • Ability to travel via auto and air to support college students
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors
  • Flexibility to connect with students in-person/phone/text/Zoom, etc. outside of regular school hours to maintain regular contact with alumni
  • Openness to varying approaches, scope and structure within the role
  • A high threshold for stress and a tireless commitment to excellence in all endeavors
  • Spanish speaking is desirable but not required

Work Environment:

The noise level is moderate and may have frequent interruptions. There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.

Starting Salary: $90,000
