The Senior Director of Planned Giving plays an integral role in advancing the Trust's ambitious goals to increase planned and outright gifts for the Hospital. This role will participate in the day-to-day management of the planned giving team, providing leadership and mentorship to a developing team. Will also manage special initiatives and help to set the strategy and operating plan to reach ambitious fundraising goals. The Senior Director plays a critical role in building effective working relationships with other frontline staff, donors, and prospects and providing technical and strategic guidance to across the Trust as well as working directly with donors, prospects, and advisors.

The Senior Director of Planned Giving plays an integral role in advancing the Trust's ambitious goals to increase planned and outright gifts for the Hospital. This role will participate in the day-to-day management of the planned giving team, providing leadership and mentorship to a developing team. Will also manage special initiatives and help to set the strategy and operating plan to reach ambitious fundraising goals. The Senior Director plays a critical role in building effective working relationships with other frontline staff, donors, and prospects and providing technical and strategic guidance to across the Trust as well as working directly with donors, prospects, and advisors.
This Senior Director, Planned Giving will:
- Oversee the Loyalty Program, engaging the Hospital's most loyal donors to cultivate increased giving of planned and outright gifts and secure new Legacy Circle members in line with ambitious, targeted goals.
- Conduct 5-10 meetings per month, closing 6- and 7-figure planned and outright gifts while personally raising $1M-3M annually.
- Build a culture of planned giving and shared goals among development colleagues at the Trust and externally with donors, volunteers.
- Work with frontline fundraisers in leadership, major, and planned giving to increase membership in the Legacy Circle from managed prospects to meet targeted goals.
- In collaboration with the AVP, Planned Giving, partner with Principal & Major Gifts colleagues to maximize gifts and grow complex, blended and transformational gifts pipeline.
- Participate in joint visits with frontline fundraisers, managing at least one Planned Giving Officer.
- Creatively and persistently seek connections to new prospects to qualify interest and capacity, and to build pipeline of planned and major gifts.
- Provide frontline training, collaboration and regular portfolio review to increase legacy society membership in Principal & Major Gift portfolios.
- Assume special assignments, opportunistically pursuing gifts and gift strategies that result from changes in tax law and other legislation.
- Work with AVP, Planned Giving to build an annual operating plan to forecast and achieve goals.
- Commit to professional growth through seminars, workshops, independent reading and professional affiliations
- BA degree and 8-10 years of successful fundraising experience
- Strong knowledge of planned giving vehicles and structures.
- Experience working with high net-worth donors on complex tax and legal planning.
- Sophisticated knowledge of tax laws, and emerging strategies and developments in gift planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to persuade and negotiate with peer-level department heads and/or advisors, attorneys and donors.
- Analytical skills to resolve complex scientific, clinical, HR, legal, financial or administrative problems that require the innovative application of the highest levels of specialized knowledge and/or develop financial and operating plans.
- Ability to be highly collaborative in a complex environment.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and ethics in handling confidential donor information and materials with sensitivity and discretion.
