Description:

Under the direction of the Regional General Manager or the VP Operations, the Port Manager directs and is responsible for the total operations of the assigned Port through management of Port Vessel Operations; budgeting and accounting; port profit and loss; customer relations; employee management; NLI Port Marketing; and other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Summary of Objectives:
Communicate daily with principals/customers, marine vessel's Master, Port Authority, and appropriate government authorities
Prepare/execute required governmental and agency documents for appropriate approvals and submission to marine vessel files
Board Vessels as needed
Established and maintain marine vessel file insuring documentation is prepared in an accurate and timely fashion
Implement standard procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet
Ensure all vessel personnel comply with regulatory training requirements
Assist in the development and adherence of the operational budgets
Ensure all appropriate authorized and company personnel are notified and that proper documentation is completed accurately
Supervise licensed and unlicensed personnel, and crew management development
Arranges for coordination of assist tugs, pilots, and crew care as necessary
P&L Responsibilities
Management of employees to include but not limited to, scheduling, time approvals, expense reports, hiring, training, terminations, etc.
Makes required trips to United States Immigration Control, and U.S. Customs Office to ensure all necessary documentation is ready for arrivals and departures as needed
Perform other related duties assigned

Requirements:
College Degree preferred
8-10 years of experience in the Maritime Industry required
In depth knowledge and understanding of Port Agency Work required
Management experience required
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and presentation.
Organizational and time management skills - multi-tasking and prioritizing, planning work activities efficiently to meet deadlines and high-level goals.
Good Influencing, Conflict Resolution and Negotiation skills.

Proven ability to deliver under pressure
Working knowledge of MS office products and ability to quickly adapt to software
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Possess a valid driver's license and clean, accepted motor vehicle record (MVR)
Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays with travel to and from the marine vessel while in Port
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to provide and maintain automobile insurance according to state laws
Position may change as the industry and technology evolve.

Working Conditions:

Works outside in conditions of both hot and cold temperatures as well as inside in an office environment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom, to climb ladders and to lift and carry 50-75 lbs. Exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially hazardous equipment. Ability to board vessels in rough weather and sea conditions. Long hours, ability to travel, weekend duties and 24-hour "on-call" status are essential job requirements. Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health.
