Reporting to the Executive Director of Fiscal and Business Operations, The Director, People and Talent will provide strategic guidance and consultation on staff related Human Resource matters to the leadership team of The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Director will create and oversee a successful human resources operation across The College and will be the primary college HR liaison with the Office of Human Resources. This position will need to be highly effective at working with many different individuals with varied interests and goals and different professional levels, including the Deans, Associate Deans, unit Chairs and Directors, Staff Administrators, central OHR, and University Administration as needed. The Director will play a critical role in The College and will be a key participant in managing the numerous challenges inherent to personnel management. This position will be an essential team member, leader, and contributor to the vision for making The College a welcoming and inclusive place to work.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and eight (8) years' experience in a related field three (3) of which is in a leadership role involving project and resource management as well as strategic planning OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting.
- Subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities.

Desired Qualifications
- Five (5) years senior HR experience at a major research university.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with academic units at a major research university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements, laws and standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of human resource practices, regulations, and standards.
- Experience and success in leading change initiatives, formulating policy and development and implementation of new Human Resource strategies and procedures.
- Experience with systems such as PeopleSoft, Kenexa, Analytics, Workday.
- Evidence of Human Resources professional certification (SHRM, World at Work, HRCI)

Essential Duties
- Provide consultation, mentorship, and leadership on personnel matters to administrators and staff charged with human resource management across The College.
- Collaborate with Deans, Associate Deans, and others to develop and implement staff human resource policies and practices that support The College's strategic goals and objectives and improve organizational culture.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with The College and OHR policies and procedures, local, state, and federal employment laws and industry best practices.
- Represent the Dean's Office and The College as the primary HR point of contact as appropriate.
- Manage the design, development and/or coordination of HR projects and initiatives College wide such as: Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA), EDGE Conversations (soon to be Workday Check-ins), and HR training for unit leaders.
- Plan, develop, and implement data collection and reporting activities, including generation of metrics to gauge results of programs and actions to drive culture, engagement, and performance; establishes metrics and prepares reports needed to track progress towards goals.
- Oversee and provide guidance on organizational change initiatives to ensure achievement and alignment with values, outcomes and performance objectives and goals.
- Manage various personnel processes for The College's administrative team.
- Perform other duties as needed.
