Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary

We are looking for the right candidate that has intensive experience working on cost analysis and optimization in large Cloud environments, with passion for data analysis, and is a team leader who can collaborate with others across the Enterprise. This role will help in identifying cost optimization opportunities by reviewing usage patterns, billing data, and cloud service utilization and also be responsible for developing and implementing cost optimization strategies to reduce the cost of cloud services while maintaining service quality and performance.

Major Responsibilities:
Provide cost comparison, cost optimization and justification metrics for new cloud deployments and cloud migrations
Lead teams through a time-sensitive project by structuring an optimization savings plan and manage the process through to completion
Partner with internal Cloud Operations team as well as teams outside of Cloud (Data Engineering & Innovation, Enterprise Technology & Architecture, Enterprise Information Management) to guide strategy and decision-making
Develop and generate periodic utilization reports to provide visibility into performance, capacity, and availability
Review metrics to identify the optimal size and configurations of the cloud computing resources
Communicate underutilized resources to the lines of business to keep them accountable so they eliminate waste and/or right-size their environment
Execute and drive optimization saving results that total 3% of all Cloud spend
Work with Finance and Business teams to align cloud spend with budgetary constraints
Collaborate with Engineering and Architecture teams to develop cost-aware architecture blueprints for cloud applications that can be leveraged across the Enterprise
Foster the adoption of cloud cost optimization activities and collaboration across the Organization
Train and/or mentor other team members, and peers as appropriate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and ITG teams
Excellent problem-solving skills by working independently and through leading outcomes for cross-functional teams
Willingness and ability to adapt to rapid business and organizational change
Proven analytical skills and experience with cost optimization
Deep understanding of cloud costs and the various alternatives available

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification required
3+ years of experience in Information Technology required
3+ years of experience in Cloud technologies including IaaS/PaaS/SaaS deployments on Public Cloud (Azure/GCP) required
3+ years of experience in BI tooling, SQL queries, and organizing data in toolsets required
3+ years of experience in developing and implementing FinOps/Cloud Cost Optimization strategies for Azure and GCP services required
3+ years of experience in cloud-native and third-party cost optimization tools required

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:
GCP, Azure and/or AWS Cloud Engineer certification(s) preferred
FinOps or Total Business Management certification(s) preferred
