The Controller at Pepper Palace is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. This leadership role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of financial records, while providing key insights to drive financial decision-making.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight:
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the accounting functions, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Ensure the integrity of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards.
Internal Controls:
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Continuously review and update the company's internal control processes to safeguard assets.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare timely and detailed financial reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide strategic financial insights, leveraging financial analysis as a tool for decision-making.
Tax and Compliance:
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring Pepper Palace's financial practices are compliant.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, promoting professional growth and efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring clear communication and alignment with company objectives.
System Optimization:
- Evaluate and implement accounting systems, software, and applications to enhance productivity.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements within the financial department.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience as a controller or similar leadership role, preferably in the retail sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and related tools.
Travel Requirements:
- 0 - 5% of the time or as business requires.
