About the opportunity:
The director of annual giving is responsible for all annual fundraising activities and community engagement in support of the mission of Vail Health and its affiliated organizations. The Director of Annual Giving will serve as a member of the development management team and is responsible for achieving the annual funding goal. This position receives direction from and reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy.
What you will do:
The Annual Giving and Community Engagement Director leads Vail Health's donor acquisition and renewal programs. The Director serves on the foundation's fundraising team and has bottom-line responsibility for managing Vail Health's Annual Giving program. Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates all annual direct response fundraising programs focused on donor acquisition, renewal, and growth; this includes, but is not limited, to any Vail Health Staff Giving Campaigns, Direct Response Giving (i.e. direct mail, email, social media, etc.), Sponsorships of Annual Events. Cultivate and maintain relationships with annual giving donors; successfully manage a small portfolio of benefactors throughout the fundraising cycle of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with the goal of soliciting annual support for Vail Health strategic initiatives. Manages the development and implementation of direct mail, email, and social media efforts in multiple annual campaigns, building strong renewal rates via direct mail and digital channels and developing regular giving programs. This position will identify benefactors, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual gifts at the $ 500-$50,000 gift levels, contributing toward an annual program goal. Partner with the Senior Director of Benefactor Management to develop, implement, and refine donor engagement strategy, analyze program results, and refine and increase return on investment. Utilize Raiser's Edge to create and track fundraising goals and updates and maintain records as necessary. Effectively move leadership annual donors through the pipeline, working with the Senior Director of Benefactor Management, fundraising colleagues, and Vice President of Philanthropy - reviewing benefactor lists and ensuring donors are solicited for the proper gift levels. Works with designated Foundation Staff to facilitate the production of proposals, special reports, and other projects pertaining to the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual giving benefactors. Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Vail Health Values. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in development or experience in marketing, sales, or public relations, supplemented by experience as an employee or volunteer for a not-for-profit institution.
- Project coordination/management experience.
- Superior communication skills, including writing and presentation skills, as well as the ability to present before a group.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues, partner organizations and internal stakeholders.
- Discretion and ability to interact with high-level donors.
- Strong computer software program skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Experience with information systems, including fundraising databases, is required; experience with Raiser's Edge is a plus.
