Description:
As a Manufacturing Designer engineering team member, you will work within a product design group to design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, focusing on safety equipment, lifting devices, tools and fixtures, potentially including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination; related to the manufacture of mobile off load forestry equipment. The successful candidate will liaise with Product Designers, Materials Coordinators, Quality Control, and Manufacturing Personnel in a coordinated effort to improve quality and reduce manufacturing costs through process improvement utilizing lean manufacturing principals.
Day shift: 5 x 8 hour shifts; Monday to Friday
Location: 160 Consolidated Drive, Paris ON
Responsibilities may include:
Create and implement standardized quality control procedures
Work with service, engineering, production and purchasing departments to improve quality of Tigercat products
Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities and procedures to resolve production problems, maximize reliability and minimize costs
Design fixtures, tools, and material handling devices
Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish your work
Prepare technical reports
Manage projects for quality improvements and lean manufacturing
Design layout of equipment, materials and workspaces to illustrate maximum efficiency
Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, materials, and utilities
Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and quality and production standards
Work with engineering, production, purchasing, and service departments to improve quality of Tigercat products Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities and procedures to resolve production problems, maximize reliability and minimize costs
Skills and Experience:
5 years of work experience in Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering capacity
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering or related field, preferably manufacturing
Willing and capable of obtaining a professional engineering license (P.Eng)
Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
Must be able to adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and changing work schedules
Must be willing to travel internationally on short notice
Good organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Comprehensive understanding of drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics and specifications, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
In-depth knowledge of quality systems, tools and methods
Proficient in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair and maintenance
Relevant experience with tooling and fixturing, calculations, PSR's required
