Job Overview:

The Business Analytics and Insights business group uses an integrated, strategic approach to driving sustainable growth in revenue and margin. Our purpose is to drive achievement of net sales, gross margin after marketing and market share goals by providing solid business plans, comprehensive reporting and analytics and actionable insights. The BAI team supports this outcome by creating and improving pricing, promotional processes, forecasting accuracy and integrating tools. BAI collaborates most closely with Marketing, Sales and Finance.

The Senior Manager of Trade Promotion Management will lead efforts to optimize retailer and brand funding, driving ROI insights across trade and A&P spend. This role will provide full P&L visibility, partner with Sales and Marketing to build funding plans, and own the trade management process and P&L templates for efficient spend optimization.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Drive ROI Conversations: Lead discussions on the ROI of retailer and brand funding at PetIQ.
  • P&L Visibility: Bring visibility of funding to the full P&L at the retailer and brand level, allowing for optimization of spend, including price discounts, customer terms, trade spend, A&P spend, and other selling expenses. Aim to understand how to maximize net sales and net profit. Develop, maintain, and improve the P&L template to standardize financial reporting and analysis across the organization, ensuring consistency and clarity in brand and retailer financial performance tracking.
  • Funding Plans: Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to build comprehensive retailer and brand funding budgets and plans, focusing on achieving strategic growth targets.
  • Trade Management: Own the trade management process, ensuring efficient and effective allocation and utilization of trade spend. Identify opportunities to reduce trade spend variances and true-up frequencies. Work with Accounting to set up accrual rates, manage customer deductions, and reconcile balances at month end/quarter end. Manage and mentor the Trade Analyst, ensuring best practices in trade management.
  • A&P Spend Analysis: Partner with the Marketing team to provide a quarterly read-out on tactical advertising and promotion spend ROI and key metrics in a way that allows for comparison to other retail funding investments.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in trade promotion management or a related field, preferably within a CPG marketing or sales environment.
  • Experience with CPG trade strategy, specifically pricing, post-promotional analysis, competitor benchmarking, and trade spend effectiveness.
  • Proven record of partnering with Sales, Marketing, IT, and other cross-functional departments.


Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in data Analytics, Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Concept Mastery: A mastered understanding of P&L, Price Elasticity, Trade Spend, Return on Investment, Gross Margin.
  • Analytical Ability: Exceptional analytical ability and financial acumen with demonstrated experience in synthesizing complex data, drawing insights, and developing actionable recommendations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in trade promotion management systems, advanced Excel, and experience with data warehousing.
