We are actively seeking a Structural Engineer with at least 10 years of experience with bridge, transportation, and/or rail structure projects to join our growing team in Raleigh, NC. Our transportation team provides a wide variety of structural transportation services to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), cities, and counties in the area including concrete bridge design, steel bridge design, bridge widening and replacement, grade separations, structural assessment and rehabilitation, underground structures, and retaining walls. Firm-wide, our bridge practice provides design and inspection services both domestically and internationally. We have worked on some of the most iconic bridges in the USA!

Majority of work is office based and may be sedentary for prolonged period of time. Interacts with clients (attends meetings or visits job site), and travels occasionally. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Leads and manages projects, including cost estimates, budgets, scheduling and documentation preparation, support and evaluation
- Recommends contracting strategies
- Performs construction support services
- Resolves design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspection
- Proficient in field work safety and occupational health
- Designs detailed plans and structural analysis
- Performs finite element static and dynamic structural modeling of structures
- Performs bridge load ratings
- Prepares design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
- Prepares quantity and cost estimates
- Coordinates plan details with drafting technicians
- Prepares inspection reports as needed
- Collaborates with bridge and rail team and all company disciplines

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in North Carolina or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
- Structural Engineer (SE) license a plus
- Experience with NCDOT projects desirable
- 10+ years of industry experience
- Experience with STAAD, SAP2000, or similar a plus
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Preferred experience using:
- MicroStation
- Open Bridge Modeler
- LEAP Bridge Concrete
- LEAP Bridge Steel
- LEAP CONBOX
- LPILE
