Summary of Position:
Civitas Resources, Inc. ("Civitas"; NYSE: CIVI) is multi-basin exploration and production company and is Colorado's first carbon-neutral oil and gas producer. The Company is conducting a national search for an experienced, motivated individual with excellent academic and professional credentials to fill the position of Regulatory Counsel. The position will be responsible for providing comprehensive regulatory-centered legal services to the Company's Rockies and Permian business units. The position will report to Civitas' General Counsel and will be based in a Civitas office location of the candidate's choosing in the Woodlands (TX), Midland (TX), or Santa Fe (NM).

Base Pay Range: $200,000 - $225,000

Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to senior management and business teams on regulatory compliance matters related to oil and gas exploration, production, and transportation, including environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and land use issues.
- Provide legal advice and guidance on policy issues regarding legislation, regulations and rules promulgated by federal, state and local governments
- Develop strategy and prepare comments on administrative rulemakings
- Serve on industry committees/task forces that focus on regulatory or exploration and production issues, as assigned
- Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts and agreements, including oil and gas leases, joint operating agreements, drilling agreements, and service contracts.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel in managing disputes, regulatory matters, litigation, and other legal proceedings, representing the company's interests.
- Conduct legal research to stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, providing insights for informed decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with various departments, including regulatory, land, operations, and compliance, to address legal issues and ensure business continuity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless board of directors reporting, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination, while upholding best practices in corporate governance.
- Assist the General Counsel with other matters, including commercial contracts and litigation management, as they arise.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ethical and committed to maintaining confidentiality and acting with integrity in all matters.
Education & Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in Colorado, Texas or New Mexico.
- Minimum five years of experience in Legal, Regulatory, or Land-related positions in the oil & gas sector.
- In-depth knowledge of oil and gas law, regulations, and industry practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft 360 products (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Travel Requirements:
- Work is performed at a CIVI location M-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Friday.
- Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
- Occasional travel will be required to the Civitas corporate offices, along with field locations and work sites.
