Job Title: Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgery Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day - 5x8 - 05AM - 01PM - 40 Hours per Week Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years demonstrated proficiency in scrubbing and circulating License: Licensed RN able to practice within the State of Mississippi Certifications: - Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)- Basic Life Support (BLS)- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)- NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: - Completion of an approved course in RN First Assisting- Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program- A minimum of 24 hours demonstrated proficiency in scrubbing and circulating Job Description: - Provide assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures in the sterile field.- Carry out perioperative nursing practices under the supervision of the surgeon during intra-operative phases.- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and co-workers, ensuring a customer service-oriented environment.- Demonstrate independence and sound judgment in interactions with the interprofessional care team.- Promote a positive work environment with the operating room team.- Collaborate and maintain open communication with all members of the OR team.- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing surgical intervention.- Display knowledge and skills essential for patient care appropriate to their age and developmental stage.- Document patient care accurately according to hospital policy.- Maintain accurate records, including implant logs, adhering to hospital standards.- Provide direct and efficient patient care, including managing emergencies and advocating for patient rights.- Use therapeutic communication, which includes active listening and teaching, to build relationships with patients and the healthcare team.- Foster teamwork by understanding overall unit acuity and offering assistance when needed.- Seek and provide guidance within the interprofessional healthcare team.- Advocate for patients and families to identify and resolve clinical and ethical concerns.- Enhance quality and safety by holding peers accountable and collaborating with the healthcare team.- Set up and troubleshoot operating room equipment including electrocautery, bipolar devices, suction units, drills, video equipment, lasers, microscopes, headlights, surgical lights, OR tables, and robots. *For further information, please refer to the full job description.*
