The Design/Package - Sr. BIW Structural Designer will help develop & guide development of body structure and components including their interfaces across all vehicle systems.
What you get to do
- Responsible for developing BIW and Body Structure systems and components using Catia V5 under the guidance of the DRE.
- Ensure component attributes are correct and maintain data integrity, including the Catia tree structure that reflects the intended assembly and purchasing plan. Additionally, provide continuous feedback from change management to the tree.
- Assure manufacturing feasibility of the component in collaboration with suppliers and Design Release Engineers (DRE).
- Ensure that all clash and clearance issues related to the component environment are resolved before the design is released. This includes coordinating with all parts in the environment across multiple fields.
- Manage total vehicle integration for all components created, ensuring compatibility with the vehicle and other components across various areas.
- Collaborate with the CAE and NVH teams, modifying designs in response to testing results.
- Lead the team in identifying and resolving integration and design issues during vehicle development.
- Participate in team meetings, working with engineers, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure technical targets are integrated into the design. Solutions should be optimized for cost and weight within the CAD.
- Provide guidance and constraints to engineers as the component design progresses to ensure feasibility.
- Responsible for various functions, including benchmarking designs, weight management, durability and reliability, and CAE performance, to meet all component requirements and ensure they are incorporated into the design.
What you bring to the Team
- Minimum of technical certification in CAD Design or equivalent. Bachelors in engineering or related preferred.
- 8+ years of Experience in Design and Packaging or similar role
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Excellent Catia skills.
- Direct development or package experience in BIW and body structure
- Broad vehicle technical knowledge
- Functional experience with NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA requirements.
- Ability and Desire work in a fun and fast paced environment.
