Position Overview

As a Validation Engineer in the Power Electronics & Motor Validation & Verification Team, you will be joining an innovative team on the cutting edge of electrification. The Power Electronics & Motor team is part of the Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) organization and is responsible for end-to-end design and development of power electronics and motor solutions for multiple customer's mobile and stationary applications. Our group ensures that our Power Electronics and Motor components meet or exceed our customer requirements through proactive validation planning rigor and verification testing.

Job Description:

Validation Engineers act as a subject matter expert to aid Project Leads / Design Engineers in validation of their components.

They act as a form of checks & balances to Design Engineers and lead documenting & disseminating validation best practices across the organization, shifting focus from reactive to proactive.

They serve as the un-biased auditor of the program, communicating program risks and planned mitigation. No surprises at GW time.

You will be responsible for validation planning and risk assessments across multiple NPI programs and will utilize FMEA based planning, Proactive Reliability, and PPRD to ensure proper validation of components and systems. Your role will be critical to establishing validation excellence in the power electronics and motors domain, delivering world-class solutions, and mentoring and coaching team members.

Education & Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

9+ years of experience (open to 5-7 years of experience) OR

master's degree in an Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum plus 7+ years of experience OR Doctorate degree in Engineering plus 5+ years of experience.

Previous product development experience (design, validation/test or analysis).

Technical Skills Required:

Experience with electric drive systems and/or components, with focus on electric motor and generator.

Experience with structured FMEA & DVP&R process.

Experience with NPI Issue resolution process.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication skills.

Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex assignments.

Excellent analytical skills.

Solid organizational and facilitation skills.

Disqualifiers/Red Flags:

Does not work well in a fast-paced team environment.
