Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI), located near Oshkosh Wisconsin, is recruiting to fill a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing position. This position typically works 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday including on-call responsibilities. WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary
As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Salary Information
The starting pay is approximately between $133,100 and $139,400 per year (approximately between $64.00 and $67.00 per hour), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 24-month Career Executive probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Director of Nursing and is in pay schedule and range 50/20.

All applicants must be able to work in conditions that may expose them to verbal assaults, threatening comments, and physical aggression such as spitting, hitting, and kicking, and be required to intervene to maintain safety/security for self and others and be able to work in an environment which is potentially dangerous/unpredictable for sustained periods.

Position Summary
As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Coordinating and providing oversight for all nursing activities as identified in Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 441 (N10 Wis. Adm. Code), ANA Standards of Practice, and Department, Division, Institute, and unit policies in the provision of complex care, including both psychiatric and medical needs, for the psychiatric patient on designated units.
- Providing direct supervision to the patient care unit Nurse Managers, AM Nursing Care Coordinator, and Quality Management Nursing Supervisor.
- Ensuring the continuous and timely availability of nursing services to patients.
- Ensuring nursing standards of patient care, and nursing practice are consistent with current nursing research findings and ANA standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nursing Practice, Joint Commission, and CMS regulatory standards and the Wisconsin Administrative Code.
- Ensuring that nursing service activities focus on improving nursing service performance.
- Collaborating with providers, Treatment Directors, and other departments to ensure complex patient needs are met.
- Applying principles of management in supervision of personnel on the assigned units.
- Collaborating with Nurse Managers and nurses to mentor and assess learning needs and arrange for continued education or growth and development for nursing staff in the service area.
- Assisting the Director of Nursing in management of the Nursing Department and providing oversight of nursing practice.
- Supporting and participating in Quality Management activities.
- Filling in for the Director of Nursing in their absence.
- Performing the role of Administrator on Duty as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin by the employee's start date. Eligible includes currently registered as a professional nurse in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in WI OR graduate nurses within three months of graduation (must have Nursing Temporary Permit License upon hire).
- Supervisory experience overseeing and directing the work of nursing staff in a healthcare setting.
- Experience implementing and monitoring quality improvement activities in a healthcare setting.
- Experience working with accreditation standards and state statutes relevant to behavioral healthcare delivery.
- Experience participating in and leading survey preparedness activities (e.g. conducting quality audits, interpreting standards for CMS, Joint Commission, ANA, meeting directly with surveyors to review work, etc.).
- Experience providing nursing care to a psychiatric population in a secure setting.
- Experience developing/implementing training content for nursing staff.
