Work collaboratively with the Assistant Principal in order to provide leadership and supervision while administering the educational program of Seymour Public schools in order to promote the educational development and achievement of all students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules, regulations, and applicable law.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
a. Valid 092 Connecticut Administrative certificate is required.
b. Three years of successful administrative or supervisory experience is preferred.
c. Bachelor's and Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration or other related educational discipline.

To use leadership and administrative skills supporting and promoting the educational, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth of each student within our district.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Leadership
a. Work with district administration promoting the growth and success of all students while providing a school culture which encourages growth while maintaining high morale among students, faculty and the community.
b. Utilize data when making fiscally responsible school finance and instructional recommendations supporting school and district initiatives as determined by the administrative team.
c. Make recommendations to Central Office for resources based upon the needs identified by assessment data, teacher recommendations, and educational research.
d. Develop and implement professional development and curricula aligned with the district vision which is appropriately articulated with other schools in the district.
e. Implement and communicate Board of Education Policies and procedures with fidelity to the faculty, students, and community.

Staff Personnel
a. Works collaboratively with all administrators within the district.
b. Follow district procedures for evaluation, procurement and reduction of staff as needed.
c. Works collaboratively in supporting the counselors to prepare a building Master Schedule.
d. Provide building level and district level professional development aligned with the district Vision, Mission and Goals as needed.
e. Stay current with modern pedagogy while providing opportunities for instructional improvement meeting all student needs.

g. Implement employment contracts for all employees with fidelity.
h. Be responsible for scheduling and conducting regular staff meetings.

Curriculum Development
  • A strong knowledge of curriculum development and implementation.
  • Provides leadership in establishing and implementing educational goals and objectives for the school and in evaluating the accomplishment of these goals and objectives.

  • Pupil Personnel
  • Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.
  • Oversees the scheduling of students.
  • Prepares students and staff for District and State testing.

  • Public Relations
    a. Supports school/community organizations and encourages staff to do the same.
    b. Develops and maintains positive written and verbal communication with the community.
    c. Works to promote school/community relations and highlight student and teacher accomplishments.
    d. Directs the release of information of the school through appropriate communication techniques.

    Resource Management
    a. Prepares a school budget which will adequately support school programs.
    b. Oversees the ordering and purchasing of materials, supplies, and equipment.
    c. Supervises student activity accounts.
    d. Develops long range plans to address building needs.

    Building Operations
    a. Works with custodial and maintenance staff to insure the proper cleanliness, repair and safety of the building and grounds.

    Professional Growth
    a. Participates in local, state, and national professional organizations.
    b. Reads current professional literature and shares this new learning with the staff.
    c. Visits other programs in other schools and attends educational workshops.
    d. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.

    Additional Duties:
    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
