Required Education/Experience

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Bachelor's degree in non-profit management,
business administration, communications or related field with 7-10 years experience in non-profit setting

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must have a proven track record of achieving revenue targets and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Experience managing a team and working collaboratively with Benet leadership and board of directors/trustees.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience in public speaking and writing compelling proposals and fundraising appeals.
  • Proficiency in donor management software including but not limited to Raiser's Edge, SalesForce as well as being proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills to evaluate fundraising metrics and outcomes.
  • Deep commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Benet Academy.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Director of Development will assist in executing the organization's fundraising strategy, supporting donor relations, major gifts, planned giving, grants, and annual giving.

Essential Functions
  • Oversight of the Development Team who report directly to Director of Development.
  • Works and collaborates closely with the VP of Advancement, the President and the Board Development Committee to meet - and exceed - annual fundraising goals to ensure the sustainability of the school.
  • Strategic Fundraising Planning: Collaborate with the VP of Advancement, President and the Board Development Committee to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet short and long-term financial goals.
  • Donor Relations: Identify, cultivate and help steward strong relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
  • Annual Fund Campaign: Manage direct mail, online giving, day of giving, and other annual fundraising efforts to maintain steady financial support.
  • Major Gifts & Planned Giving: Identify and assist in the solicitation of major gift prospects, as well as planned giving opportunities to build long-term financial sustainability.
  • Corporate Partnerships: Help build and maintain partnerships with businesses and corporations to secure sponsorships, in-kind gifts, and philanthropic support.
  • Grants Management: Lead the grant-seeking process, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to all of Benet Academy's policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional Catholic High school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level is that of a typical school.

  • Ability to move around the school campus and attend off-site meetings or events. This involves walking, standing and lifting or carrying up to 25-50 pounds.
  • Sitting and standing for extended periods of time, including but not limited to sitting at a desk for computer work as well as standing during events or meetings.
  • May be involved in the set up and tear down of events which can include but is not limited to arranging furniture, setting up displays, and handling promotional materials.
  • Participate in outdoor events, which may require being on your feet for several hours and managing physical tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Significant and repetitive time spent on computers for date management, communication and planning. Take necessary breaks to prevent repetitive strain injuries.
  • Frequently uses phones and other communication devices to interact with donors, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders.

Position Type/Hours of Work
This is a 12-month, full-time position. The days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may vary and include some evenings and weekends.
