Major/Essential Functions

  • Provide patient care and diagnosis in all areas of Pediatrics to newborns, children, and adolescents.
  • Examine patients to determine the presence of disease and establishes preventive health practices.
  • Determine nature and extent of disease or injury.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and immunizations.
  • Precept medical students and residents in the clinic and newborn nursery.
  • Supervise physician assistants and/or nurse practitioners in the clinical and inpatient setting.
  • Engage in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship.
  • Serve the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
  • Contribute to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations.
  • Adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility.
  • Uphold and promote the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics for the rank of assistant professor or higher
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred)
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher


Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign medical equivalent degree
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatrics residency program
  • Texas Medical licensure, or eligible for Texas medical license
