About the Position
Position Description:
United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) is seeking a Research Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary team of biostatisticians, epidemiologists, public health researchers and/or behavioral scientists to collaborate on and lead scientific studies, produce Organ Procurement and Transplant Network (OPTN) contract reports, and respond to internal and external data requests. This team will primarily focus on supporting OPTN Committees by providing research and data support to inform the development of new policies and to monitor existing policies to strengthen the organ transplantation and donation system. The ideal candidate is creative, well organized, excited by multi-disciplinary collaboration, and an excellent communicator.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, manage and lead team of Research personnel to achieve UNOS goals and objectives. This includes all aspects of performance management.
Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and development to research staff to manage highly complex organ transplant related research
Implement best practices for R programming code review, version control, documentation, and maintenance
Allocate staff resources according to strategic priorities, and monitor the success and direction of team projects
Collaborate with other researchers and transplantation professionals on research, presentations, and publications.
Collaborate with a diverse group of cross-functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., biostatisticians, software engineers, data scientists, policy, communications, marketing, grant writers, external funders)
Assist research staff in the preparation of analytic results in the form of data and written reports, manuscripts, and visualizations for professional meetings, system integration, and broad public consumption.

Minimum Requirements:
5 years of public health, biostatistics, healthcare policy or other related experience required
2 years of people management experience required.
Critical Skills:
Must have demonstrated ability to do independent research.
Competence in R programming is required, SQL and Python are of interest.
Must have demonstrated ability to do independent research.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and within teams.
Experience in organ transplantation is preferred.
Excellent oral and written scientific communication skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency with statistical programming in R required.
Strong theoretical foundation in analytical methods in required.
Experience in developing and leading research/analytical studies is required.
Education:
Advanced degree in Epidemiology, Data Science, Health Services Research, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or related field of study, or equivalent work experience required.
