Summary

ASCP currently has a unique opportunity for a highly motivated, energetic Learning Experience Designer- Contractor to grow their instructional design skills alongside our Learning Innovations team. At ASCP, you'll work in a challenging and collaborative environment to create engaging, high-quality learning experiences, bringing our educational offerings up to -- and over -- the high bar we're setting for ourselves. With over 100,000 members, you'll be able to directly shape the continuing education and professional development needs of Pathologists and Laboratory Professionals around the world.

Working with the Learning Innovations team and other ASCP staff members, you will develop, maintain, and revise ASCP course material. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, creative, and tech savvy, with experience with or ability to quickly learn multiple authoring tools, including Articulate Storyline and Rise and videoconferencing tools such as Zoom, and audio/video/image editing tools. The role requires someone who can innovate and who is not be afraid to think outside the box or feel constrained by how things have always been done. You'll need to be able to balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with senior-level SMEs to engage learners and create high-impact education.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with SMEs and staff to design, develop, evaluate, and enhance innovative learning solutions.
  • Ensures educational courses and materials are effective, engaging, and consistent with best practices in adult education, and in alignment with learners' needs.
  • Collaborates with project teams, guiding the instructional design process from kickoff to completion.
  • Conducts QA on educational courses and materials.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to move ASCP organizational initiatives forward.
  • Ensures course compliance with applicable ACCME and Board of Certification guidelines for continuing education and certification requirements.
  • Applies ASCP customer service guiding principles when interacting with ASCP volunteers, customers, vendors, and staff.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
  • Assists with other ASCP initiatives as needed.


Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or other relevant field.
  • 2+ years' experience in adult and continuing education/training (continuing medical/healthcare education a plus). A quick learner with a passion for lifelong learning strongly desired.
  • Proficient with PowerPoint (including slide masters, layouts, smart art), and experience with / ability to quickly learn Articulate Storyline, audio/video/image editing software, and other tools / procedures related to the design and delivery of online education for use within a learning management system and live (virtual) education (eg, Zoom). Interest or experience in delivering education over social media a plus.
  • An eye for visual design and desire to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain effective relationships with subject matter experts and staff.
  • Well-developed time management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and oral/written communication skills. Must be flexible, responsive, a quick thinker, and self-directed, and have strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, leveraging tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, videoconferencing software (eg, Zoom), and email to effectively collaborate with in-person and/or remote colleagues.
  • Job Conditions-Flexible telework policy, with option to work in Chicago office for local candidates. Interaction across departments/ divisions of the Society. Occasional travel to staff ASCP education activities.
