Job Summary
City Brewery's Production Manager is an essential part of our liquid processing team to ensure efficient department operations while providing effective mentoring and coaching to this large team. Our Batching Department is responsible for the production of teas, energy drinks, and flavored malt beverages in accordance with the principles of good manufacturing practices (GMPs). The Batching Manager works within the department as well as cross-functionally, particularly with the Quality Lab, to ensure a safe work environment and identify new opportunities for both individual and team improvement.

The Batching Manager works within the department as well as cross-functionally, particularly with the Quality Lab, to ensure a safe work environment and identify new opportunities for both individual and team improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively manages and motivates a large work force of hourly and salaried employees to ensure a cost effective allocation of departmental labor
- Designs and supports procedures for the efficient production of blended beverages
- Effectively develops and manages a program to monitor output of the various stages of the batching process, including record keeping and timely communication of results
- Codifies, updates, and communicates internal and customer quality specifications in a comprehensive and readily accessible form
- Effectively troubleshoots causes for deviations from specifications
- Communicates directly with customers regarding Batching issues and help ensure that customer expectations regarding samples and record keeping are met
- Effectively monitors microbiological and GMP standards to ensure departmental compliance
- Communicates effectively with other department heads regarding liquid supply and quality issues
- Ensures that departmental practices meet Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) requirements
- Identifies and provides training(s) as needed in a learning organization
- Assists in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of departmental capital and continuous improvement projects
- Effectively manage Batching department materials, including inventory and changes to Bills of Materials
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a related science discipline (Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent
- 3+ years experience in a managerial position; brewing or beverage industry experience, preferred
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and managing large teams to success
- Experience leading large teams in a unionized environment, preferred
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word suite, especially MS Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice
