POSITION SUMMARY:
Natera is a pioneer in individualized genetic testing. Our cutting-edge technology platform combines novel molecular biology techniques that allows detection down to a single molecule in a tube of blood. We have leveraged this platform to develop the most accurate non-invasive prenatal test on the market, the first tumor-specific assay for individualized cancer care and best-in-class rejection assessment for organ transplantation, among other transformative cfDNA tests.
We are looking for a creative Scientist/Sr. Scientist who enjoys designing experiments at the cutting edge of innovation. You should have an inquisitive mind to novel molecular biology and next-generation sequencing techniques and be comfortable in handling various nucleic acids species. You independently plan and execute laboratory experiments and present them in group meetings.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for designing, executing and analyzing experiments per associated timelines and deliverables.
- Enjoys active bench work and generating data sets
- Solves problems as they arise and suggests improvements
- Documents research progress within a Quality Management System
- Communicates progress directly with colleagues and senior management
- This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and has access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job
- Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
- Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or closely related field with ideally 5 years of industry experience or
- Ph.D. with minimum 2 years industry experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or closely related field
- Previous experience with extracting and manipulating plasma nucleic acids required
- Previous exposure to the scientific field of oncology is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies preferred
- Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques, including general nucleic-acid technologies and/or protein screening. - Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with data analysis and statistical testing using Excel, JMP, R or other data analysis environments is a plus
- Must have good communication, organizational, record-keeping, planning and time management skills
- Demonstrated success in applying independent scientific judgment in experimental design and analysis
- Skilled at writing clear experimental plans and reports
