POSITION SUMMARY:

Natera is a pioneer in individualized genetic testing. Our cutting-edge technology platform combines novel molecular biology techniques that allows detection down to a single molecule in a tube of blood. We have leveraged this platform to develop the most accurate non-invasive prenatal test on the market, the first tumor-specific assay for individualized cancer care and best-in-class rejection assessment for organ transplantation, among other transformative cfDNA tests.

We are looking for a creative Scientist/Sr. Scientist who enjoys designing experiments at the cutting edge of innovation. You should have an inquisitive mind to novel molecular biology and next-generation sequencing techniques and be comfortable in handling various nucleic acids species. You independently plan and execute laboratory experiments and present them in group meetings.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for designing, executing and analyzing experiments per associated timelines and deliverables.
• Enjoys active bench work and generating data sets
• Solves problems as they arise and suggests improvements
• Documents research progress within a Quality Management System
• Communicates progress directly with colleagues and senior management
• This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and has access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job
• Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
• Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• MS degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or closely related field with ideally 5 years of industry experience or
• Ph.D. with minimum 2 years industry experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or closely related field
• Previous experience with extracting and manipulating plasma nucleic acids required
• Previous exposure to the scientific field of oncology is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies preferred
  - Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques, including general nucleic-acid technologies and/or protein screening.
• Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with data analysis and statistical testing using Excel, JMP, R or other data analysis environments is a plus
• Must have good communication, organizational, record-keeping, planning and time management skills
• Demonstrated success in applying independent scientific judgment in experimental design and analysis
• Skilled at writing clear experimental plans and reports

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
