Description:
RadiFi Credit Union is seeking an an experienced Director of Collections & Recovery to oversee the operations of consumer, mortgage and commercial collections and recovery to minimize delinquency, charge-offs and costs and to maximize recovery for assigned portfolios. Develops and implements collection and recovery strategies. The position manages projects to improve the operational effectiveness of departments and the asset quality of assigned portfolios. Ensures business unit's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and credit union policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.
Responsible for developing team members into proficient credit union representatives by providing daily feedback, coaching and training.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and executes collections and recovery strategies to minimize delinquencies and losses and maximize recovery initiatives. Oversees collections operations, ensuring department and credit union policies are consistently utilized across the various portfolios to enhance asset quality. Controls costs for legal and asset maintenance. Ensures audits of assigned files are performed. Responsible for satisfactory audits of collections operations for compliance.
Manages projects to improve the operational effectiveness of the department and the asset quality of assigned portfolios. Analyzes portfolios, processes and results to identify gaps and implements changes to improve outcomes. Develops reports and metrics to assist with loan loss forecasting. Provides feedback to lending groups with any findings and recommendations that may reduce future losses. Attends industry conferences and maintains industry contacts to ensure departments remain current on trends and upcoming challenges.
Leads the team by inspiring engagement and increasing the capabilities of others to optimize business results. Responsible for the management of employees including staffing, compensation, performance management, training and development, and succession planning. Responsible for the timely and effective management of Human Resources forms and documents relevant to immediate staff.
Prepares and submits budgets for cost centers and cost allocation projections for Lines of Business. Ensures departments remain within approved budgets. Directs corporate, and department initiatives, projects, etc.
Manages professional, collection agency and other third-party relationships to maximize the value and effectiveness of our business partnerships.
Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in collections and recovery risk management and operations or related work experience. Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to loss mitigation programs and collections strategies. Minimum 5 years leadership / management experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor's degree from accredited institution with major in accounting, finance or related area, or equivalent work experience.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills
Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use credit union software. Other Job Qualifications: Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills. Able to conduct formal meetings and presentations at all levels of management. Must be analytical, detail oriented and organized with excellent problem-solving skills to develop effective solutions that consider efficiency, internal controls, and impact to financial results. Requires the ability to analyze large amounts of information and complex situations quickly, think strategically, make estimates and projections and exercise sound judgment. Demonstrated effective and efficient team player who leads by example and inspires others. Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed. Travel if necessary.

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference and volume.
