Description:
The Senior Uinta Reservoir Engineer will be a member of the Uinta Reservoir Characterization team located in Denver or Houston. This role will collaborate with Characterization Team Geologists, Petrophysicists, Data Scientists, and Asset Team Engineers and Geoscientists on projects of multiple month duration on SM recently acquired Uinta Basin asset, aimed at improving our understanding of depletion strategies, well placement, and completion design practices. This role will utilize advanced field science data (fiber optics, downhole pressure, geochemistry, tracers etc), to build and calibrate models, which will be utilized to investigate play and well performance drivers, and to forward model alternative development plans in search of the optimal economic development strategy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Experienced in the asset development of unconventional (horizontal) resource plays. Strong understanding of oil and gas economic evaluations and their appropriate application. Command of fundamental reservoir engineering disciplines including decline curve analysis (DCA), rate transient analysis (RTA), volumetrics, recoveries, fluid behavior, simple analytical history matching, and flow regime identification. Demonstrated aptitude for building and history matching numerical models. Understands important geological, petrophysical and geochemical properties for unconventional plays. Working knowledge of different completion types, designs and fluid systems. Proficient and strong ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies. Proficient and strong use and application of standard engineering principles and techniques including industry and company standards in assigned discipline. Can easily identify limitations in data set and range in certainty of results.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Building and maintaining fracture and flow simulation models of SM's various assets
- Calibrating models to field data, and revising model parameters as new data becomes available
- Collaborating with Completion Design Uinta team to provide fit for purpose models to investigate alternative completion designs
- Collaborating with Uinta Asset Team on joint studies of well spacing, targeting, and production strategies and larger collaboration across SM
- Working within the Characterization team to build best possible static descriptions of the subsurface, providing engineering input to geologic and petrophysical studies
- Ability to compile and analyze data from various internal systems and external data from other operators, Enverus, and/or other publicly available sources
- Ability to communicate results in a clear and concise manner to upper management and executives
- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Degree in Engineering is required.
- 6+ years of reservoir engineering experience
- Experience with numerical simulation in Resfrac or CMG
