Under administrative direction of the Deputy Athletics Director within Sun Devil Athletics, responsible for the financial planning, reporting and analysis of all controllable financial statements. In partnership with the unit leaders (SMEs); university functional leadership, facilitate business planning process to include development and revision of business plans including setting a process for regular reviews and adjustments as required. Lead the development of annual operating plans, strategic financial plans, modeling with diverse set of inputs, and quarterly forecasts. Drives development of a financial and operational strategy with metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve organization assets and report accurate financial results. Works closely with Human Resources within athletics to ensure streamlined, and strategic approach to financial and human capital plans associated with the Sun Devil Athletics unit. Serves as a key financial liaison across the ASU enterprise to ensure consistency, collaboration, and transparency as is relates to the athletics financial model. This position will perform the duties and responsibilities listed below while ensuring strict adherence to NCAA and Big-12 rules and regulations, as well as policies and procedures of Arizona State University, Sun Devil Athletics and the Arizona Board of Regents.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and eight (8) years of experience in professional accounting, including five (5) years of people leadership experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

- Demonstrated ability to develop and present financial analysis, and strategic initiatives to athletics and university leadership as required, and in formatting requirements as aligned by athletics leadership, and or as required by university standards, and NCAA requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and drive all budgeting and forecasting models from preparation, approval, adjustment and deployment.
- Evidence of a comprehensive understanding of pan-ASU units and systems within the financial realm
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead financial related analysis and preparation as it relates to compensation benefits, salary planning, and analysis to measure positive and negative variance to operational plans.

Essential Duties
- Provides financial analysis and predictive analysis to senior and executive leadership on key business components, focused on all elements of the financial model within athletics.
- Evaluates existing financial models for opportunities to increase revenue and optimize costs and expenses; makes recommendations to improve financial stewardship.
- Delivers weekly, monthly and quarterly financial presentations to unit senior leadership from a comprehensive athletics level, as well as sport level detail.
- Engages and communicates complex financial issues, results and metrics with unit leadership in a simple and customer friendly manner
- Proactively analyzes internal and third-party data sources to project the business impact of trends. Makes recommendations for action to unit leadership based on those trends.
- Develops a team of strategic finance experts; develop a staffing plan that enables the team to become financial experts and an integral part (trusted advisor) of the area they are supporting.
- Supervises the preparation of complex financial statements/reports, technical analyses, reconciliations and financial projections for both internal and external distribution.
- Advises leadership and other personnel on complex accounting and financial processing matters including development of alternatives for discussion.
- Communicates and aligns key internal stakeholders on forecast assumptions and outputs including qualifying the results based on the strength of the data Oversees the design and development of systems and procedures to manage the processing of a wide variety of financial transactions.
- Establishs accounting policies, procedures, and operations consistent with current laws and university policies; monitors compliance with approved policies and procedures. Plans and coordinates financial system and other technology initiatives.
- Consults with university administration and departmental personnel regarding budgetary execution, control and financial projections.
- May serve as a university officer authorized to sign, in the name of the university, on checks or other transactions paid from university funds.
- Represents the organization and serves on various department and university committees.
- Serves as representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned.
- Responsible for people management elements of finance employees including hiring, performance evaluations, discipline, etc.
