We're searching for a Director of Governmental Advisory Services to join our team. This position is responsible for overseeing the financial, budgetary, and other advisory services provided to the firm's governmental clients. This role involves the performance and oversight of outsourced accounting and CFO engagements and ongoing strategy development for the continued evolution of the firm's governmental advisory services practice. They are responsible for maintaining high-quality service delivery, fostering client satisfaction, implementing internal processes, developing employees under their supervision, and driving business growth opportunities.

What you will do in this role:
  • Oversee the outsourced accounting team providing services to local governments, including audit preparation.
  • Utilize accounting, auditing, and non-accounting software expertise to optimize processes, streamline workflows, and enhance client deliverables.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to local governments to aid in the budget process and decision-making.
  • Lead an internal team of governmental finance and advisory professionals.
  • Engage in the strategic vision and growth of the firm's government advisory services.
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, and forecasts to provide data-driven decision-making to boost client services, identify opportunities for value-added service lines, and improve client satisfaction.
  • Serve as the point of contact for clients regarding accounting and auditing-related inquiries, issues, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate across various organizational departments and work with cross-functional teams to execute goals.
  • Oversee the execution of offshoring team's work product to ensure the Firm's quality and expectations are being met.
  • Perform final technical quality control review of workpapers and other engagement items.
  • Comply with the Firm's training and continuous education requirements.
  • Meet the Firm's guidelines for productivity and utilization standards.
  • Establish business development standards based on industry to increase leads and acquisition of prospective clients.
  • Organize the development of resources for the department to improve efficiency and skillsets.
  • Contribute to the interviewing process and recruiting events as a representative of the department.
  • Prepare and issue accurate and timely invoices to clients based on agreed-upon terms and services rendered.
  • Participate in company-wide projects and committees to improve internal and external processes.
  • Work with the Firm's management team to actively lead and monitor performance goals such as chargeable hours, growth, profitability, and innovation.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and delivery of internal and external continuous education.
  • Manage the lifecycle of projects, client engagements, business operations and/or subordinates.

What you'll bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Finance Officer.
  • 10+ years of experience in governmental accounting or finance.
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, Uniform Guidance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with one or more common governmental ERP software solutions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with a proven record of making well informed decisions.
  • High aptitude for collaboration with peers during decision-making, planning, and execution phases.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills including verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical business leaders and users.
  • Proven ability to be proficient in conducting in-depth research to develop technical solutions.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency driving results.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks positively and proactively under tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-pace, dynamic environment.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
