Responsibilities:
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions, coordinate technical scopes of work including interface with all project disciplines (project controls, legal services, project management, construction, engineering, finance/accounting, and client)
- Assist with prime contract flow-down review and development of project specific contract templates.
- Knowledgeable on all aspects of construction contracts formation, including assisting in initiating and developing individual contracting strategies, pre-qualification of bidders and development of bidder lists, development of contract RFP documents.
- Lead all bid cycle activities, including chairing RFP explanation meetings and bid clarification meetings, manage all responses to bidder queries, develop commercial bid evaluations and coordinate technical evaluations with engineering.
- Develop proposal evaluations and award recommendations, submit award recommendations to project team and/or client, develop final contract.
- Perform contract management post-award activities including monitoring Subcontractor performance and progress against critical path and contractor schedules; evaluate and coordinate approval of contractor progress payment applications.
- Monitor contract compliance, review of schedule adherence, lead all contract change management activities (site instructions, drawing transmittals) with a strong focus on negotiating good value on any changes, claims avoidance.
- Investigate and resolve invoicing issues and close-out of subcontracts.
- Ensure that contract administration files are maintained in a clear auditable manner.
Basic Job Requirements
- 7-12 years of prior contracts management experience in an EPC/EPCM, mining, or heavy industry environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business law or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Interface with all levels of the Fluor project team (Engineering, Construction, Contracts, etc) and clients.
- Be proactive with contractors to ensure contract compliance, generation of progress, daily, weekly and other status reports.
- Strong Negotiation Skills
- Solid communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Willing to travel occasionally as required to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity or knowledge of the Canadian Bidding Law is strongly preferred.
- Experience working on Mining and Metals projects.
- Previous Fluor experience is an asset.
