Description:

  • Assist in the design of new equipment layout or existing equipment renovation.
  • Develop scope of work documents, generate budgets, establish project timelines, review utility capacity and availability, and work with various trades (riggers/millwrights, electricians, pipe fitters, etc.) to complete projects.
  • Work both new project/installations, as well as projects within the operational facility including shutdowns or renovations of existing equipment where particular attention must be paid to timelines and methods of project execution.
  • Execute projects designed to add value to levels of automation, including vendor selection based on design criteria for the project, integration with IT systems, and consideration for human interaction with the equipment.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years of engineering experience in food production, pharmaceutical, or consumer products required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in an FDA or USDA environment.
  • Ability to conduct complex problem solving and generate options.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Solidworks.
  • Understanding of computer networking.
  • Understanding of simulation software (e.g. Rockwell Arena).
  • Extensive experience with root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with automated packaging systems (conveyance, case packing, palletizing).
  • Experience working with packaging materials and supplier interaction.
  • Exposure to electrical distribution systems and low-voltage controls preferred.
  • Exposure to mechanical systems (steam, water, air), fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics preferred.
  • Experience with plant flow analysis and logistics.
  • Experience with MS Project or other project management software.
