Slate is looking for a technical, dynamic and experienced Quality Engineering Lead - Closures & Exterior Systemsto join our growing team. This position will be responsible for the Design Qualityof these systemswhere effective engagement with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver the highest quality levels with respect to product and process. The role must work closely with all internal and external partners to exceed customers' expectations.

- Lead product Design Quality to create unique designs that will excite customers and offer the highest reliability, function and safety for Closure and Exterior Systems.
- Collaborate and engage diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Support the development and optimization of Requirements and special characteristics aligned with strategic targets and customer expectations.
- Support Design for Manufacturing to enable Lean processes.
- Facilitate development of FMEAs and DVPs to identify and manage risk. Optimize testing and manage testing outcomes (FRACAS).
- Define processes and technical standards in cooperation with development, product management and operations to ensure product quality.
- Support and mentor team members, foster a culture of learning, and facilitate skill development.
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you bring to the team:
You will be a key member of a high functioning team as we explore opportunities in the Electric Vehicle space!
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (including: industrial/ mechanical/ vehicle, or related field)
- 10+ years of experience in automotive engineering/product quality
- Very good technical understanding and sound knowledge of product design, development and Quality of Closure and Exterior
- Strong GD&T and manufacturing knowledge. Able to interpret GD&T, assess feasibility for manufacturability and propose alternative solutions.
- Knowledge of materials and design optimization including thermoplastics and composites.
- Understanding of NHTSA's FMVSS requirements and CAE methods used to optimize designs for safety, NVH and durability.
- Proficient in the use of commonly applied quality tools and processes in the automotive industry (APQP - DFMEA and DVP)
- A successful history of delivering new program launches on time while achieving metrics.
- Very good product assessment skills, problem solving and root cause capabilities (Six Sigma, DFSS, Red X, etc)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a high level of assertiveness to meet team goals.
- High level of integrity and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment.
