Description

Geotechnical Engineer (Multiple Positions) (Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.; Sacramento, CA): Perform field engineering services during construction by inspecting and certifying the as-built condition of designed projects. Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing engineering work in a safe manner. Work with and lead interdisciplinary engineers, geologists, and other scientists to solve project challenges, performing design calculations as required. Conduct field inspections. Observe and participate in field exploration and testing programs and perform site characterizations and evaluate geotechnical hazards. Evaluate field and laboratory test data and develop parameters for use in technical analyses. Assess subsurface conditions, including soil and rock properties and geomechanical conditions, including review and interpretation of field maps, field logs, test data, and other field documentation. Develop parameters for use in technical analyses. Select criteria for planning, design, and construction of dams, tunnels, foundations, slopes, and earth-retaining structures. Perform selection in accordance with regulatory agency requirements, technical design standards, and industry standards and guidelines. Prepare and maintain charge of construction documents, including design drawings and specifications, for various levels of design. 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). The salary range is $109,012 - $135,400 per year. #GTM #LI-DNI

Qualifications

Requirements:

Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field, and 4 years of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field, and 6 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 4 years of experience with the following: Evaluating, designing, and remediating civil infrastructure facilities, and geotechnical instrumentation; Utilizing advanced soil mechanics, applicable evaluation, and design standards and guidelines; and Utilizing geotechnical analysis software, including SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SETTLE, RocLab, SLIDE, DIPS, or L-pile.

Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience with embankment design.

Travel to various locations throughout the U.S. up to 20 % is required.
