Description:

Croda is seeking a Lead Applications Scientist who will be responsible for developing new products and data in the field of sustainable cleaning ingredients for household and I&I markets. This experienced individual will lead efforts and collaborate with fellow team members in designing new product concepts, developing test methods, generating and interpreting data, and delivering product launch data.

LABORATORY ACTIVITES:
Design and execute laboratory projects according to assigned priorities including product design, product formulation/prototyping, test method development, and data generation directed towards bio-based and sustainable products.
Deliver projects against agreed milestones, and issue reports on time with minimal editing and revision required.
Identify new projects for applications and data packages to support the sale of bio-based and sustainable products into household care markets.
Support peers and associates in the delivery of shared project objectives through cooperative training and hands-on assistance where needed.

MARKETING AND SALES TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Support interaction with customers through technical support, sample recommendations, technology presentations, and the delivery of agreed Customer Work Requests (CWR).
Generate high quality data for promotional literature (symposia, trade shows, journal articles, etc.); review results with marketing to ensure clarity and appropriate impact.
Troubleshoot customer problems when using Croda products and recommend materials and methods to improve performance.
Provide appropriate updates to teammates, global peers, and other internal collaborators through audience-specific communication.

EDUCATION & TRAINING Requires BS or MS in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related field and 5-10 years lab experience, or PhD with 2-5 years lab experience.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Experience with new product development in home care, industrial or personal care markets preferred. This should include experience in product prototyping, formulating, and test method development.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Must have oral & written proficiency in the English language.
Good interpersonal skills, a self-starter capable of independent work but keen to work as part of a global team.
Effective communication skills are essential (written and verbal) as participating in discussions and seminars (internally and externally) is expected.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficient in MS Office.
OTHER SKILLS:
Creative and conscientious with good planning and problem-solving skills.
Adaptable around changing project requirements and priorities.
Ability to progress multiple projects simultaneously to successful conclusions under own initiative.
Good experimentalist with ability to plan and carry out work independently.
Ability to interact constructively within department and with other departments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be physically capable of standing to work at the laboratory bench for up to 7 hours a day.
