Description:

Dragados Canada, Inc., the Canadian construction arm of the ACS Group (one of the world's largest international construction and engineering companies), is seeking a talented and eager Project Manager - Structures and Early Works to join its dynamic and energetic team.

Dragados Canada was established in 2008 and has grown steadily into an industry leader in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, successfully performing a variety of large-scale transportation, bridge, dam, tunnel, and other major infrastructure projects.

Note: The incumbent will be working at the downtown Toronto office for the first 8 months and then at the project office in Oshawa.

Responsibilities
  • Review project contractual documents to gain an understanding of the project requirements (time frame, budget, safety, quality, staffing, materials and equipment requirements) necessary to complete the project within the required time frame
  • Liaise and coordinate with the designer, technical department and client in all technical aspects
  • Review and understand project design, technical reports and background information
  • Develop an execution plan that outlines construction staging and sequence, construction workplans, materials, equipment, subcontracting, and other services that are necessary to deliver the project on time and within budget
  • Coordinate with other discipline managers to establish work the correct construction staging and sequencing
  • Provide technical assistance and recommend construction methods and equipment
  • Manage quantity take offs, bill of quantities, estimating and develop scope of works related to the civil, earth works and wet utilities scope.
  • Lead project activities to ensure that the project is executed in accordance with the designs, budgets and schedules; take appropriate action to minimize the impact of deviations
  • Develop and manage client relationship and expectations, progress reports, communication, paperwork, meetings, etc.
  • Monitor and oversee the efficient use of materials and equipment and the contractual performance of the project; confer with project staff to ensure the assigned duties and responsibilities are performed per agreed upon expectation
  • Monitor and oversee onsite activities, quality, productivity, progress, and safety of employees and subcontractors and ensure implementation of all procedures and work plans
  • Anticipate potential roadblocks and develop solutions to prevent issue from arising; resolve any problems that may arise during project execution
  • Implement and monitor safety programs
  • Manage requests for information and issue field instructions
  • Prepare progress reports
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8-10 years of experience working with a major contractor on large heavy civil and bridges projects
  • Experience in working within Railway corridors is preferable
  • Experience with construction of new bridges and rehabilitation/retrofit of existing bridges
  • Working knowledge of MTO and Ontario municipalities road construction standards and processes
  • Extensive knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards drawings and specification
  • Demonstrated abilities in the management and leadership of multidisciplinary project teams
  • Experience successfully planning and executing projects on schedule and within budget
  • Ability to apply, interpret and understand contract law and language
  • Experience working with programs including Excel, MS Projects, Word, Power Point and Bluebeam
  • Excellent technical, communication, organizational, managerial and planning skills
  • Excellent people and leadership skills
