WORK SCHEDULE

  • 5x8 shift schedule, Monday-Friday only
    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    The Diabetes Institute in South Lake Union is a premiere clinic with nationally renowned specialists, researchers, and key opinion leaders in the field of diabetes, lipids, and diabetes research. Our clinicians are at the forefront of diabetes care and education - teaching not only patients, but also fellows within UW Medicine and primary care providers throughout the Pacific Northwest. We take a bench-to-bedside approach to our care, taking discoveries made at our laboratories and turning them into medications and therapies. Our institute was the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and our team of clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, and dietitians take great pride in providing advanced care for our community.
    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Supervise a team of RNs and MAs
  • Work closely with the Clinic Manager on operations projects
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote staff development
  • Work in South Lake Union at a beautiful, state of the art facility
    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establishes and maintains credibility as the leader of day-to-day clinic operations
  • Identifies staff and resource problems and takes necessary steps towards a resolution
  • Provides feedback to the Clinic Manager for annual performance evaluations
  • Schedules staff work hours
  • Resolves unplanned absences, following Ambulatory Services Resource Pool Protocols
  • Develops, coordinates, and maintains work processes to ensure the clinic runs successfully
  • Establishes and maintains safety and emergency protocols for the clinic
  • Interviews Registered Nurses and Medical Assistants
  • Manages orientation and educational programs for newly-hired staff
  • Promotes effective communication among staff and patients
  • Performs general clinic RN responsibilities when needed
    REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 years of recent RN work experience in a hospital or clinic, which includes work experience with diabetes or endocrine patients
  • Previous charge, lead, or supervisory work experience
  • Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
  • BLS
