The Air & Space Biosciences Division of the 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory (711 HPW/RHB) seeks to hire a senior-level, DR-03, Women's Health and Performance Senior Research Engineer at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

Position Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Leads research and/or product development efforts and ensures high quality Science and Technology (S&T) and relevance through technical oversight and personal contribution.
  • Assesses and implements the appropriate experimental, computational, and other methodologies to accelerate or support technical activities in Women's Health and Performance Research.
  • Works with the 711 HPW/RH Core Technology Competency (CTC) Leads, Product Line Leads (PLLs), program managers, technical leads and corporate planning processes to integrate technical development efforts into the broader organizational strategy.
  • Serves as a technical task lead for women's performance research efforts.

Work also includes:
  • Planning and controlling assigned resources.
  • Conducting in-house technical activities and/or provides technical direction for contract efforts with minimal supervision.
  • Writing manuscripts and presenting work at associated conferences and symposia.
  • Briefing AFRL S&T leadership and broader scientific community.
  • Working across the organization to coordinate women's specific research efforts.
  • Collaboration with other organizations to advance military women's performance research.

Required Qualifications

  • This position may be filled as a 5-year Flexible Length and Renewable Term Technical Appointment (new government hires, current government term employees, etc.) with the option to later convert to a permanent appointment.
  • United States Citizens

  • Incentives may/may not be authorized.
  • Security Clearance: This position requires possession of or the ability to obtain a secret security clearance
  • These are Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) positions and require a Level 2 certificate (Practitioner). The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience in this field, equivalent to DR-02 in the federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Acquisitions (KSAs):
  • PhD in Human Factors Engineering or Human Performance
  • Knowledge of Air Force operations, objectives, principles, and methods
  • Prior experience with women's health research
  • Knowledge of the issues specifically facing military women
  • Certifications such as personal training, nutrition, etc.
