Job Overview:

Lummus Technology is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in piping. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a deep knowledge in the following areas: piping supports, spring hangers, insulation, Caesar analysis, hot wall piping, expansion joints, and plot plans, among other areas. This position will be working with piping systems that are high temperature and include complex support systems and specialized expansion joints

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate project needs to determine the proper specifications for drawings, data sheets, and other standards to develop proper requisition packages.
  • Responsible for pipe wall thickness calculations and vacuum design.
  • Perform stress analysis of critical piping such as reactor area, turbine & compressor area, fired heaters, jacketed pipe, etc.
  • Responsible for determining piping class as well as the specifications of licensor pipes, hot piping systems, and expansion joints.
  • Participate in developing plot plans.
  • nterface with customers, DEC firms, project managers, lifecycle support managers, process engineers, and members of the Lummus Mechanical Engineering Department.
  • Review fabricator/DEC drawings and DEC pipe stress reports.
  • Visit vendor shops and customer facilities as needed during construction, commissioning, and operation.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Mechanical Engineering Manager or Chief Mechanical Engineer.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on pipe stress.
  • Experience in propane dehydrogenation, ethyl benzene, styrene monomer, fluid catalytic cracking strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Caesar II, Compress, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other basic Microsoft Office software are required.
  • Experience with ANSYS preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time at a duration between 1-3
