We are looking for our next bilingual HRBP to join one of our major civil projects in Montreal.

What you will do here:

Recruitment

  • Work with the project to define (new) role requirements, advise on existing role requirements, develop role profiles as required and conduct job analysis
  • Provide support in workforce projections and strategic workforce planning as appropriate
  • In collaboration with JV HR partners, lead the recruitment process and interviews with hiring managers
  • Coordinate reference checks of potential candidates

Employee Relations

  • Effective management of situations and conflicts, working closely with managers to ensure that employee relations issues are handled professionally and in a timely manner and to minimize risks to the project.
  • Proactive outreach to HR communications (e.g., support for town halls, management or operational team meetings, etc.) to improve the employer-employee relationship
  • Conduct investigations and address grievances, where appropriate
  • Advise, counsel, support and coach managers and employees as needed
  • Coach managers and employees on performance management, including company performance reviews and individual development plans (IDPs)
  • Provide guidance, direction and advice to the management team and employees regarding employment-related matters, including, but not limited to, interpretation of company policies and procedures, recruitment and selection strategy, performance management, demobilization, strategic planning, training and development and benefits administration.
  • Work closely with HR partners of the relevant joint venture to facilitate promotions, demotions, transfers and demobilization in a professional manner. Ensure balance between project and employee needs

Social relations management

  • Advise and support managers in managing healthy working relationships
  • Ensure the proper conduct of internal investigations into complaints, grievances, performance management, the disciplinary management process and/or violations of policies and procedures
  • Advise managers on the application and interpretation of collective agreements, working conditions, labor standards and other laws likely to improve the work climate
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and review the human resources management plan and labor relations procedures and processes
  • Ensure the correct interpretation and application of collective agreements
  • Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with all project stakeholders, promoting collaboration and transparent communication.

Talent management

  • Support managers and employees in performance management and goal setting throughout the year
  • Provide advice, guidance and feedback on performance management strategy, ensuring project needs and individual objectives are linked.
  • Lead internal training or learning sessions for managers and employees as needed.
  • Ensure that project training needs are assessed and appropriate training is selected and deployed.
  • Supporting succession management initiatives

Governance

  • Creation and implementation of HR policies, ensuring they align with project objectives and legal requirements
  • Monitor compliance with labor laws and internal policies, help mitigate risks and avoid legal issues
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Promote diversity and inclusion, promote a culture of equity within the project.

HR indicators and system usage

  • Oversee checks to ensure accuracy of employment information submitted to unionized workers' payroll and processed in the system
  • Effectively navigate the HR system to provide timely support to managers and employees.
  • Complete ad hoc reports upon request

Training and development

  • Collect feedback on training needs and provide feedback to joint venture HR partners
  • Support any training process of managers and employees for continuous development in collaboration with JV HR partners.

What you bring to the team:

  • Post-secondary studies in human resources management or project administration
  • Experience in labor relations, management of collective agreements in Quebec and relations with unionized workers, an asset
  • Working towards the CHRL designation or the completed CHRL designation is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a progressive role in Human Resources
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to solve problems of a moderately complex nature and make routine recommendations.
  • Ability to work proactively and positively within a team, acting with a sense of urgency.
  • Great attention to customer service
  • Strong working knowledge of key elements of human resources and its systems and processes.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with all levels of employees and management
