OPCS Vice Presidency Context
Operations Policy and Country Services (OPCS) plays a pivotal role in achieving the WBG's vision and mission, to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet. OPCS is at the center of operations and delivery and serves as the back-office for the WB's Managing Director for Operations (MDOPS). The VPU helps foster links between the Global Practices and the Regions, while assisting frontline staff in delivering results to clients through sound operations policy and procedures. OPCS develops and oversees the WB's operational policies and procedures for country strategies, lending operations, advisory services and analytical support, financial management, procurement, and environmental and social safeguards. OPCS is also responsible for modernizing operational instruments (lending and non-lending) to help the WB become more responsive to country needs.
The Operations Management Unit (OPSOM) is mapped to the OPCS Vice President's Front Office and plays a central role in providing support to the VP, MDO Office and the Operational Complex on lending projections, pipeline management, corporate policy commitments monitoring, portfolio management, and data analytics. OPSOM is also responsible for the curation, validation, reporting and dissemination of key operational data to various stakeholders, including the Board.
OPSOM is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, Program Analyst to, among other, lead the Board Scheduling, steer the Sectors & Themes coding process, support the curation and validation efforts associated with the production of the Annual Reports. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong World Bank operational experience, an in-depth knowledge of Sectors & Themes taxonomy and the coding process, good data analysis skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills. This position will involve frequent interactions with Corporate SEC, ECR, GPs, Verticals and ITS.
Duties & Accountabilities:
The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Lead the Board Scheduling process for all products and contribute to data analyses and validation activities feeding into the preparation of weekly updates to Sr. Management, Delivery Review Meetings, and quarterly Operations Updates to the Board, as well as any other ad hoc reporting.
Steer the implementation of the New S&T Taxonomy, work with GPs/Vertical Teams to finalize the New S&T Taxonomy, deliver training to Central Coding Team and Task Teams, as well as coordinate with ITS on system changes needed for the implementation of the new Taxonomy.
Reconcile data across platforms, Operational Workspace, Standard Reports, Analysis in Excel, and Central Coding for Sectors and Themes (S&T), including adaptation and mitigation theme codes.
Co-lead within the OM Unit the efforts for preparing and validating data for the Annual Report, as well as other corporate documents, as needed.
Monitor and regularly validate data in the Bank's operations systems and external website and provide guidance to teams to ensure data quality.
Collaborate with ITS, WFA, DFI, Climate, GPs/Verticals. and other teams to identify improvements to the Bank systems relevant to corporate reporting and operational data.
Selection Criteria
This position requires the following technical and operational skills:
Master's in a relevant discipline (Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or other related field) and at least two years of relevant professional experience.
Familiarity with World Bank operations (project cycle), Sectors and Themes Taxonomy, preferably through experience in a Region, Global Practice or OPCS.
Full proficiency and hands-on experience with analyzing large datasets, ability to work quickly in Excel, particularly with creating data models and visuals using more advanced concepts.
Good familiarity and ease of working with the Bank's data systems and tools including Standard Reports, Analyze in Excel (AE), Analysis for Office (AO), BI, and the Operational Workspace.
Good oral and written communication skills; strong ability to translate technical content into plain language; capacity to prepare reports and presentations using Word and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated client orientation with the ability to respond effectively to internal and external client requests and set priorities for self and others.
Strong interpersonal skills, collaborating and working across boundaries; Proven ability to handle multiple tasks independently, work under pressure with short deadlines, and be a problem solver.
