Description:

The Portfolio Optimization Engineer will support management and teams to forecast, monitor and track the capital program's execution. This includes updating the monthly reforecast, working with the teams to create and present the Budget/Mid-Year Update and Long Range Plan, and performing economic analysis. This position is intended to be a 2 - 3 year rotational assignment providing an opportunity for early to mid-career engineers to gain necessary business experience and acumen.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Execute the Budgeting & Mid-Year Update Processes
  • Execute the Long-Range Plan Process
  • Provide monthly reforecast by utilizing the Master Operations schedule and operational updates to all necessary teams.
  • Perform scenario analysis to identify potential risks and uncertainties that could affect the project schedule and develop mitigation plans. Also create contingency plans to address unexpected issues.
  • Track key metrics and integrate these into the monthly reforecast
  • Analyze and benchmark internal and external key variables
  • Perform quarterly portfolio analysis to help guide future investment decisions
  • Perform quarterly look-forward and look-back to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement in future projects
  • Analyze accuracy and variability of forecasting methodology
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation in support of Investor Relations
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • BS degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable engineering and/or financial (with Asset development/operational involvement) experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Solid understanding of engineering economic evaluations
  • An asset & operations background with working in a multi-disciplinary team is a plus
  • Exposure to horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, and production operations
  • Experience with industry/company software including: MS Office, Aries, Spotfire, Wellview, Alteryx and SQL Server
  • Driven, enthusiastic, and passionate
  • Self-directed, organized, and detail oriented
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously; takes a multi-disciplinary approach to projects
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills including: written, verbal and formal presentation
  • Applies specialized knowledge in the completion of projects
  • Actively transfer knowledge to colleagues and management
