Position Summary
The Head of Strategic Investment Development will report to the Meketa Capital CEO and will support Business Development, Product Development, and Client Service. Meketa seeks experienced, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic individuals with superior analytic abilities and relationship management skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Be an integral part of the leadership team as a senior-level investment professional with specific product expertise on private equity and infrastructure interval funds (and all future products and services offered by Meketa Capital) along with general investment portfolio (e.g., asset allocation, risk management) knowledge
- Work closely with and support Meketa Capital's CEO in promoting, developing, and executing the strategic vision of Meketa Capital both internally and externally.
- Actively engage with Meketa Investment Group ("Meketa") to leverage investment capabilities, performance analytics, investment and market commentary, and investment operation functions.
- Actively lead new product development and structuring in the following areas: additional private market interval funds (e.g., private credit, real estate, natural resources) for distribution in the US and potentially offshore; customized alternative market solutions for financial advisors; model delivery for financial advisors; and CIO support services for financial advisors.
- Support all aspects of servicing clients after investment. Oversee reporting, commentaries and thought leadership, and method/frequency of client communications (in collaboration with existing Meketa resources).
- Support execution of all investment decisions made by the Primark/Meketa Capital Investment Committee, by engaging with fund counsel, Meketa Investment Group, and general partners.
Key Areas of Experience:
- Expert-level understanding of Meketa Capital's product offerings and deep understanding of the alternative investment landscape. This involves being fully aware of the investment environment, and Meketa's thinking on how best to capitalize on that environment in client portfolios and collaborating with other Meketa investment professionals and subject matter experts.
- Experience as an investment resource for the business development team for all stages of the client prospecting process including RFPs (liaison with Meketa RFP team), digital or in-person meetings, investment and operational due diligence, and new business presentations.
- Extensive travel may be required for client meetings, but also for internal meetings/training/events and conferences. Travel expected up to 30% of the time.
- Collaborate effectively with business development and senior executives, and strategically identify and target potential clients and new areas of business, such as offshore capabilities and distribution arrangements.
- Participate productively in Meketa Private Markets Research Committee meetings to provide real-time feedback and insights on the wealth management market, help develop new product ideas within the alternatives space and help evaluate new investment opportunities identified by the Meketa private markets research team.
- Effectively build relationships with internal stakeholders across client services, investments, technology, operations, and control functions (legal, risk, compliance) to drive collaboration, efficiencies, and outcomes for Meketa Capital.
- Be able to play an active role in the construction of product-related proposals and briefings for key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Investment Committees, Executive Committees, and the Boards of Directors) for our interval funds and future potential products and services.
- Effectively manage the various workflow and administrative systems as they pertain to Meketa Capital's client base and accounts.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities to help build the business and brand.
- As Meketa Capital grows and resourcing requirements increase, the specific roles and responsibilities may change by becoming stand-alone Full Time Employee positions.
Position Requirements:
- Qualified candidates will have a minimum of fifteen years of experience in the investment industry, a strong background in economics, finance, and statistics, a broad understanding of the investment world, specifically the private markets, and demonstrated superior writing and presentation skills.
- Other requirements include professional experience with an asset management firm, investment consulting firm, or institutional plan sponsor; experience and success in client service and marketing roles focused on the RIA and intermediated investor marketplaces.
- Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence that is expressed in their attention to detail and quality of work. They should consistently display professionalism and integrity in the workplace.
- CFA, CAIA, and/or MBA designations are preferred.
