Position Title University Controller
Department Financial Services
Reports to Vice President of Finance and Administration
Appointment Full-Time; 40 hours per week/12 months
Status Exempt
Bradley University's Division of Financial Services invites applicants for the position of Controller, reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. The Controller is responsible for the preparation of the University audited financial statements, interim University financial reporting, the maintenance of the accounting system and financial records, account analysis and internal controls.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Required qualifications include: a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in accounting or finance and a minimum of five years of work experience in relevant tax, accounting and compliance work.
Preferred qualifications include: Higher Education or Non-Profit work experience. Preference will also be given to those candidates who have a CPA or CMA certification.
The successful candidate will have: a demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards, integrity, and confidentiality; have strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; possess the ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks and manage projects independently; be organized, timely, efficient and have excellent attention to detail; be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); strong creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and recommend practical solutions; and the desire and ability to work with diverse clientele and colleagues.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist leadership with financial analysis of operations and provide data for decision making
- Prepare interim and year-end financial statements, audits and reports presented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Ensure compliance with Federal rules and regulations for all Federal Financial Aid programs, Federal Loan programs, and NCAA statements
- Maintain accounting records and effective internal control processes
- Responsible for cash management, bank reconciliations, inventory reporting and fixed asset tracking
- Supervise employees in Payroll and General Accounting as well as working closely with the Bursar's Office and financial Aid Office
- Provide financial information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Perform periodic internal audits of all financial controls and processes such as invoicing, fixed asset activity, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Review and approve account and bank reconciliations
- Other duties as assigned
