Title: Senior Controller

Level: Director Level

Location: San Leandro (This position requires you to be onsite 100% of the time)

Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off.

The Senior Controller is a director level position. You will be responsible for maintaining accounts and records in various general and/or cost / government accounting functions, as well as internal and external audit & compliance. Develops, implements and/or maintains one or more accounting systems: Journal entries, General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Revenue Reconciliation, etc. Compiles data, allocates costs, prepares reports on labor, equipment, depreciation, assembly or other operating expenses, and analyzes financial information. Prepares income and balance sheet, profit and loss, consolidated and other accounting statements. Reviews and interprets financial reporting requirements, rules and regulations. Responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures. May design, modify, install and/or maintain general accounting systems.

Manages highly experienced professionals, supervisors, or managers. Often leads one or more departments. Communicates with parties inside and outside of the organization on matters of strategic importance to influence senior leadership on new concepts, practices, and approaches. Establishes overall direction for new processes, systems, and solutions. Recommends and implements strategies and develops operational plans/goals that directly impact the mid- to long-term function or business area achievements. Requires advanced management, business knowledge, leadership capabilities and broad experience across multiple related professional disciplines.

Nature of Supervision

Manages highly experienced professionals, or teams led by lower-level supervisors or managers. Often leads one or more departments. Responsible for creating a workforce and staffing plans for department/unit to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish departmental business results. Has hiring, firing, promotion and compensation authority within own organization, in accordance with senior management review and approval. Reports to the executive management.

Communication & Influence

Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization, which includes major customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept team's views or practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Requires ability to influence senior leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the function or organization.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
  • Master's in accounting and / or CPA highly preferred.
  • Minimum education and years of experience requirements are not to be used exclusively of other leveling factors. The substitution of additional relevant education and experience for stated qualifications may be considered.
  • ERP system implementation and testing experience are also highly preferred.
  • Requires advanced business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead business areas or functional teams.
  • Broad experience across multiple related professional disciplines within the organization, combining theory, past practical experience and the organization's business practices.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $200,000 - $250,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
