We're looking for someone with deep expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, Databricks, and Informatica who is ready to lead data engineering projects, drive cross-functional collaboration, and mentor a team of talented junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Development
- Architect and manage complex Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, supporting core business applications, analytics, and reporting.
- Design and optimize database structures (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures) for peak performance.
- Implement advanced data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) to ensure efficiency and scalability.
Data Integration & ETL Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of ETL workflows using Informatica, ensuring robust data pipelines from varied sources.
- Define and promote best practices for ETL, including data cleansing, error handling, and quality control.
- Mentor junior engineers in data integration methods and ETL optimization.
Big Data & Cloud Platform Expertise
- Spearhead Databricks initiatives to streamline big data processing, data transformation, and preparation.
- Architect seamless integrations between Databricks, Oracle, and PostgreSQL for optimized cross-platform data access.
- Collaborate with data architects and cloud engineers to implement data storage and processing solutions on cloud platforms.
Performance Tuning & Optimization
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance across Oracle and PostgreSQL, including SQL tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Develop and implement strategies for database scalability, capacity planning, and high availability.
- Ensure data security protocols, backup and recovery plans, and compliance standards are maintained.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Engage with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop solutions that align with business goals.
- Lead the documentation of data flows, ETL processes, and architectural designs for transparency and operational continuity.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
What You Bring to Impyrian
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Must be a US Citizen to meet eligibility for a DHS Public Trust Level 5 Clearance
- 7+ years of experience in database engineering with Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Advanced experience with Databricks for big data processing and transformation.
- Expertise in Informatica for ETL and data integration.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing principles, including star/snowflake schemas and best practices in data modeling.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, with deep expertise in performance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DHS Public Trust clearance strongly preferred
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Relevant certifications in Oracle, PostgreSQL, Informatica, or Databricks.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience leading cross-functional data engineering projects.

- Office Environment: This role primarily involves office-based work, either on-site or remotely, requiring the ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Visual and Auditory Requirements: Proficiency in using a computer, reading from screens, and participating in video/phone conferences.
- Manual Dexterity: Operation of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and tracking systems.
- Mobility: Ability to attend meetings and collaborate effectively within the office environment.
- Stress Management: Effective handling of multiple inquiries and adherence to strict regulatory standards.
