SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, operation, and maintenance plan of all new proprietary & purchased equipment. Will be responsible to support Process Engineering with CQV of new equipment, products & processes for release to Production. This position drives Design for Manufacturability and Lean efforts and is responsible for ensuring projects are on time and within budget. The position is also responsible for cost reduction projects in Production, provide leadership & planning for set-up & changeover of all production lines, to support Production needs and help meet their daily production goals. The position additionally requires effective communications with cross functional production team which includes manufacturing, quality, planning, supply chain, warehouse, maintenance, sales, and engineering personnel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for design and development projects to be on time and within budget.
  • Issue and track project timelines and budget tracker to ensure project meets critical milestones and remain within budget.
  • Responsible for the transition of assigned products from development into production, and assuring that manufacturing processes for product meet customer expectations regarding product quality and costs.
  • Create Preventative Maintenance and Spare Parts plan for all new and existing Production equipment.
  • Create document package for all new and existing equipment which includes BOM, Work Instructions, Wiring diagram, operational manual, and troubleshooting guide.
  • Analyze and recommend product design changes for ease of manufacturing to reduce cost, improve quality, or reduce time to market.
  • Lead Lean events, processes and Kaizen teams, focused on productivity improvement, cost reductions, and maximizing potential revenue.
  • Develop and implement automation systems to reduce production costs and lead time to market and improve the quality of the products.
  • Lead design reviews and technical interchange meetings with design staff to assure manufacturability of components and systems.
  • Perform the above functions in relation to project schedules throughout Concept, Design, Development, Pre-Production and Production.
  • Cultivates Continuous Improvement of products and processes. Research and seeks ways to increase productivity. This includes better tooling/techniques, the use of ergonomics, software implementation, as well as leadership through motivation, teaching, and training.
  • Interacts with Sales team, QA, Product Manufacturing, Planning & Supply Chain, Maintenance, and facilities management, as required to meet production and sales goals.
  • Creates standard operating processes for engineering and production/assembly work areas. Verifies and evaluates existing standards; making sure database is up to date. Assist with ensuring Line Supervisors/Leaders adhere and conform to set standards.


Skills and Abilities
  • Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Ability to use CAD software is required, AutoCAD and Solid Works are preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all departments and cross functional teams
  • Experience in Industrial product design and tooling design
  • Ability to use Engineering Economics analysis for decision making process required
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate discussions regarding the design, development, and introduction of products to meet customer requirements.
  • Ability to gather input from production personnel through team implementation of process improvements on the production floor.
  • Ability to understand and apply FMEA, RCA, Cpk and gage R&R analysis for manufacturing processes preferred


Qualifications
  • BA/BS Degree - Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment or a Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Consumer Product manufacturing experience preferred
  • Onsite position requires presence in manufacturing facility.

This is a full-time exempt role.
