The Compliance QA Manager is responsible for developing and administering compliance systems for all federal, state, and local regulatory schemes. This individual will ensure everyone adheres to legal and quality standards and in-house policies performing regular audits of business procedures and processes to ensure HARPC and Quality plans are followed and verified. This position will play a key role in developing and maintaining partners and contract manufacturer supplier relationships and work both collaboratively and independently to manage supplier approval, assess supplier performance and manage customer expectations.

Principal Job Functions:
* Ensure organizational compliance to all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
* Keep abreast of regulatory developments including food labeling law, FSMA, and inspection and compliance
* Provide regulatory support to innovation, commercialization, and supply chain operations
* Develop, implement, continuously improve, and audit control systems to proactively identify and resolve regulatory and quality risks
* Act as the point of contact for managing the facilities' regulatory inspections (FDA, NCDA, etc.) and all agencies follow up activities
* Assist with managing all special circumstance crisis events including escalated quality, regulatory actions and recall activities
* Develop and approve compliant food product labeling providing ingredient, formulation, and product specification information as needed
* Ensure compliance with all Regulatory (FDA, USDA), Certifying Organic, GFSI, Kosher, ISO, etc.), and customer requirements
* Ensure readiness to third party audits, regulatory inspection including FDA Preventive Controls for Human Food and Intentional Adulteration rule requirements
* Ensure Food Safety Plans are accurate, current, and FSMA compliant
* Conduct Root Cause Analysis and issue corrective actions to prevent the reoccurrence of food safety and quality issues affecting manufacturing performance
* Work with other members of management, production operators, technicians, and engineers to establish food safety, regulatory, and quality guidelines by studying product, consumer, customer requirements, and regulatory agencies
* Create compliance, regulatory, and quality documentation system by writing and updating policies and procedures. Maintain all regulatory documentation and ensure that it is current and accurate
* Work with other members of management, production operators, technicians, and engineers to establish quality and reliability standards by studying product, consumer, and customer requirements
* Ensure staff is trained properly and have established developmental plans for all direct and indirect reports. Conducts annual performance assessments for direct reports
* Design, implement, and execute ongoing training programs for Manufacturing staff, including Managers, Supervisors and Line Operators on proper Food Safety and Quality procedures and regulatory requirements
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies
* Build High Performance teams by recruiting, training, and developing subordinates as well as setting expectations and goals that align with Strategic Plans and Operations' strategy
* Achieve financial objectives by preparing the compliance quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
* Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
* Ability to travel as needed.

Qualification

Minimum Required Qualifications:

* Required BA/BS in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or another related field
* 3-5 years of management experience in Regulatory Affairs and quality assurance, operations, analytical, food safety regulatory environment or other technical functional area
* Strong project and people management experience
* Experience in quality assurance/control, operations, analytical or other technical functional areas
* Have cross functional experience with ability to interface with multiple groups to develop and implement Quality Management Systems (QMS)
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Exceptional listening and analytical skills
* Strong working knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, Global Food Safety Schemes, ISO, and other Certifying Bodies (Kosher, Organic, Fair Trade etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in Business Administration, Food Science, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Strong project and people management experience.
* Experience in developing people and processes.
* Experience in manufacturing products in a FDA/USDA environment.
* Self-starter, results oriented with excellent organization and time management skills.
* Skilled to preparing and presenting information in a concise, professional written format.
* Working in teams, task forces, etc. while developing and maintaining positive team spirit and internal/external customer relationships.
* Able to prioritize and balance multiple projects and deadlines is a fast -paced deadline driven environment.
* Must have visual/auditory acuity required to read and understand written material.
