We are seeking an R&D Engineer that will join our Networking Systems R&D Division located in Norcross, GA.
Job Summary
The purpose and function of the Research & Development Engineer role is to provide quality support to the organization to meet system requirements and exceed customer's expectations. The Research & Development Engineer is responsible for the resolution of customer complaints and concerns, analyzing nonconforming product, providing manufacturing support when needed, and making continual improvements to manufacturing processes using Lean and quality tools.

We are seeking an R&D Engineer that will join our Networking Systems R&D Division located in Norcross, GA.
Job Summary
The purpose and function of the Research & Development Engineer role is to provide quality support to the organization to meet system requirements and exceed customer's expectations. The Research & Development Engineer is responsible for the resolution of customer complaints and concerns, analyzing nonconforming product, providing manufacturing support when needed, and making continual improvements to manufacturing processes using Lean and quality tools.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Create 3D modeling, prototypes and show proof of concepts in compressed design cycles.
- Use sound design techniques to develop next generation fiber optic connectivity products.
- Ability to test designs and apply the scientific method of problem solving to development projects
- Conduct initial tests of design prototypes and qualification tests on new product designs
- Evaluate tool made samples supplied by manufacturing for approval
- Provide engineering input to develop New Product Introduction project plan and execute assigned tasks
- Maintain/monitor laboratory equipment and calibration
- Production Support
- Assist production team with manufacturing layouts, operation, and calibration of OFS-owned facilities
Job Qualifications
- BSME required, Or a Proven Experience with physical design of Optical Apparatus
- 10 years (preferred) of experience developing numerous projects of varying degrees of difficulty
- Experience with hyperscale/data centers solutions and/or Fiber-to-the-X preferred
- Strong design and development experience with plastic molded parts and sheet metal formed parts.
- Required experience with development projects as an active team participant
- Strong ability to be self-directed once assigned to a project (Concept to Production)
- Excellent written, oral communications and interpersonal/teamwork skills
- Computer knowledge and skills: Experience with Solidworks, Solid Edge or similar CAD type programs (required).
- Microsoft Office.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience in manufacture processes, termination and testing of optical connectivity apparatus
- Personal experience and knowledge of Telecommunications industry standards and fiber optic test procedures
- Experience with programming and operation of automated testing equipment and systems
